Every bar has the dreaded singer for the KJ. You know the whisper singer that you can't hear so you turn him up, up, up, then he decides th throw in a mind numbing scream to make your woofers jump out of your speaker about a foot. Or the guy/ girl who was a good singer ealier but rotation was long and when he / she comes back up to the stage he's / she's stumbling around so drunk they can hardly stand or like Bab's puking singer.

Oooh Okay

My biggest irritation is people who do heavy metal songs that scream and don't sing.
What aggravates the problem is they are usually very long songs. (Mettalica)

Only one I can think of right now is I have 1 singer who thinks he is good, couldn't carry a tune in a bucket if he tried & generally does songs that are longer than 6 minutes or better.  No way I am going to tell him he can't sing as he is a huge supporter of the bar as far as spending.

There's one girl who's a semi-regular where I go...she's the ONLY one I know of that makes the KJ want to put the chain up around the booth.

I love the "bump me up cuz we're leavin'" folks.

I got so tired of it, I started to use this line with them, feel free to borrow it...

"Let me get this straight.  You want me to bump you up and screw over all these other customers who are STAYING here and spending money so you can sing and leave without spending a dime?"

Anyone else have the guy who thinks he's fronting for Led Zeppelin?  "CHECK CHECK CHECK TWO THREE...turn me up a bit and gimme a little more midrange and a little reverb on the bass..."

At least he's talking in the mic, what about the ones that just have to blow real hard or spit at the mic to see if its up; or even worse, tap on it real hard to hear it 'pop' and watch you cringe ............  and some people just dont understand why I turn the mic's down all the time.

For those who like to test the mic, we just tell them to say "sex" into it.

How about those super soft singers who have the gigantic puff of air pop outta their mouth whenever they pronounce a word with a "P" or a "B" in it. Or the guy who say's let me bust the mike with a little freestyle.

Yeah, I guess a pop filter/screen isn't that practical for karaoke!

You get about three seconds of beat boxing my mics before the slider comes flying down and you get cut off.  The other ones I hate are the soft singers who feel the need to go WOOOOOOOO at the top of their lungs at the end of the song.

LMMFAO!! :newlol: I wish I was a kj/dj, but then, there wouldn't be anyone to lie to me or pretend that I'm a halfway decent singer.  :ggof:
But who knows? There could be the occasional patron who walks up and tells me.......YOU SUCK!! :newlol:

Top Ten Lists:

1. someone who smells like they used the bathroom in their pants

2. someone who beats on the mic to see if it's on

3. Screamers

4. whiners ( when am I up next, you skipped me, let me sing 3 songs in a row)

5. profanity users ( F this, F that, F me, F you)

6. People who want you to stay longer than you are getting paid for

7. People who won't put the mic close enough to their mouth because they
are afraid someone might hear them.

8. Drunks that knock over my equipment

9. Drunks who think karaoke means grab the KJ's a$$.

10. PUKING ON THE STAGE

11. People who decide the mic is to announce their personal speaches

A good compressor with limiter is perfect remedy for that.

Define "scream".  Alot of hard rock has "screaming" in it.  Of course the singer should exercise some judgement and be able to modulate the sound/mic distance etc.   Certainly, some shouldn't be singing those songs in the first place.
Ready to accept flung arrows if you've heard my submissions.

but along that line, as a patron it does get a bit old to hear a whole night of country when one isn't into that.  Yeah, I know, go somewhere else.  KJ certainly can't/won't necessarily control the mix of genres

I'm sure banging the mic makes ya wanna kringe.
How about hearing the same song multiple times in a night - crappy songs or renditions only add to the headache (the other night somebody did that Meatloaf song-- paradise by the dashboard lights?  -- oh what a long an annoying song-- kinda like american pie)
