I am not that familiar with the whole computer karaoke thing yet. I have my new laptop and my PCDJ/KJ software and I have about 50 of my 600 discs ripped to my harddrive. I need some information on How to zip the files to save space Once zipped how do I UNZIP if I need to alter the ID tag (NAME ARTIST DISC ETC) so they show up correctly. Any experienced zippers ???? |

Why zip at all? The amount of hard drive space saved is not great and there is more chance of error when unzipping before playing. |

((SIGH)) anyway, to update the mp3 with the same name as the zip, sax & dotties has a content renamer program that will do that for you. This is good for the hundreds and thousands and tens of thousands types of songs. Most of us can rename them ourselves on a single mp3 basis thru winamp. As the song is playing, right click on the title of the song in the playlist, and go to "file info". Click the ID3 tag, and then you can past the name in the title, and click UPDATE. Don't do this at a show... it'll pause for a split second! ! |

You can also use WINZIP, or similar program to unzip the files, and re-zip after you chand the ID info. But if you are going to be doing a bunch, get a zip program that can do batche, such a MP3G Toolz |

Last Night I downloaded MP3+g toolz and I was able to unzip my MP3+g test file and rezip And I even was able to change the ID tag (manually). Now the tough part….. It seems all my MP3+g’s are in with the ID as TRACK-DISC-TITLE –ARTIST “EXAMPLE” 01-SCG8449-AMIE-PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE But I need them to be – TITLE –ARTIST- DISC- TRACK AMIE-PURE PRAIRIE LEAGUE-SCG8449-01 Is there a program that can take the information already on the tag and manipulate it the way I need it???? Or is this something my player (PCKJ ) should be able to do or recognize? all advice is appreciated as I would like to go LIVE this weekend with my computerized karaoke :hi5: :hi5: |

This renamer will 1 4 rename Practice on a few moved to a different folder.. Read the faqs and examples and use the first second etc instance of "-" to swap the data... If some are slightly different use the windows search function to move them to a different folder then devise a different formula to rename them.... |
