Got a 160Gig External Hard Drive and I need to save all my sound choice to the drive...The files only come up as CDA files on the puter and can't be played in Sax and Dotties? WTFunk?

If your burner will reconise cdg, then you need the right kind of software to do that with... something that's been discussed a lot on here and other sites. If you do a google search on "ripping cdg", you'll see tons of links and advice.

Standard windows explorer copying won't do it. There's a subcode that has to be copied as well.

OK, here is the deal... I have been searching for hours and getting tidbits of info all over the net that doesn't help me get this to work...

I am using audiograbber.  I get to the point where audiograbber converts ("grabs" ir whaterver) the CDG from the sound choice disk to CDG and an MP3 (two seperate files per song)...but in sax and dotty's it will only play the MP3 BUT with no visible lyrics.

Can somebody please give me a step by step on how to do this?  I am getting way frustrated at this point...

Thanks in advance, D.J.

It is Cavs format for the graphics file.. It works on their players but not on any other .  This converter converts it from mcg to cdg.....

Do you have the LAME encoder? Or are you using another form of encoder?

I have a full tutorial on this:
http://www.knightshow.com/tech_help/Audiograbber.htm

((edit)) I see you said you are getting the second file...)

You are using sax and dotty's... what version? Some use the winamp stuff, the latest version does not. Don't you have to have the files zipped to use it? (I'm afraid I'm only going to confuse ya know!)

You can install winamp and search www.winamp.com for the karaoke .cdg plugin. I have an older 2.9 version that I use, but I know others use the more current 5.whatever.

If you need the file, pm me

Correct me if I'm wrong. It has been a long time since I had to pull a disc out and convert. I use audiograbber on all the new disc and it has no problems.

I remember some of the SC disc in the 8700's I had to extract an image with cd-r win and convert the bin's with mp3+g toolz. Is that still the case?

only ones I couldn't do from SC were the friggin' mediacloq discs.

All others I was able to rip with audiograbber!

Make sure you have this winamp plugin installed

http://www.winamp.com/plugins/details.php?id=100775

and also make sure the .cdg and .mp3 file are in the same directory.

If I remember right Sax & Dottie runs zipped mp3+g files. Rip your disk with cdrwin , then convert to mp3+g with MP3+G Toolz , then zip with the same program and load the zip into Sax & Dottie and that should be it :)

Sax & Dotty's can now play any mp3+G or mp3 file wether it is zipped or not.  How you go about converting a disc to a mp3+g file is up to use.  SOme use Audiograbber, some use CDRWIN & Mp3+G Toolzs  It's all up tp you.

BTW...A MP3+G file is actually 2 files...
1...The MP3 file that contains the music
2...THe CDG file that contains the lyrics

If you need more help with S&D try their support site and forums.  There are a lot of great people on there that are more than willing to help out a newbie, including me.

I've been using (actually am currently as I write this) CDGRip from KaraokeWare - It creates zipped mp3+g files and adds the songs right into my compuhost listing (of course I'm not using S&D's so I don't know how it would work there) and it works with fasttracks v2..
