Karyoker, So I don't threadjack Cindy's Birthday thread, I'm moving this over to tech forum.... I have a question regarding Gain vs wattage vs Speaker efficiency... Yasgur's farm was abit over 300 acres as I recall, not sure how 3500 watt's would cover such an area, although it was on an embankment.... Anyway, don't want to threadjack....So I'll see you over at the tech forum.... Considering the (supposed) record for Sound Systems was the Who's around 1976  (75,000 supposed watts) and sound measurement was (supposedly) 120 DB. I've got a few questions about this stuff.....Although it was said the sound distribution at Woodstock 69 was pretty lousy....

but like I said.....I won't ask here... LMAO

Sorry Cindy,  Not only am I a technical moron, but I'm a thread-hog too (yet you already know this)

That's good CCindy,  For some of us January kid's, I suppose the holiday's are now pretty much over.....Glad you had a good day !  Does school resume for you in a few days ?   around the 26th ?  or something like that ?   You on a 4-1-4 type year ?

(I think that's what Colgate and Skidmore termed it)

[font=Comic Sans MS]Yup...... back to the grind on Monday.  The college basically runs year round, though ... Fall, Winter session, Spring, Summer session.  My contract covers Fall and Spring.... winter and summer are 5 week intensive sessions.... faculty can offer any course they wanna... but if you don't get 15 students registered, you don't get paid.  I used to work summer session .... doing clinical supervision... but with a restructuring of the program... summer sessions were eliminated from the on-campus portion of the program.  I WOULDN"T wanna offer a winter session class.... I NEED the break!  Kinda glad that Im not working summers anymore... the extra pay was nice.... but the wedding bookings for the business really pick up then ... and we are sooooo busy that it was tough to try to do both and still feel like I could fit in some R&R.

OMG..... last night ..... I thought I was going to a surprise Engagement Party for my sister .... who got engaged on Thanksgiving Day.  We were told to be there at 5 pm... 'cause they were arriving at 5:20.  I walked in at 4:55 .... and she was there!  I was like.... who got them here so early .... and the room started laughing!!  I looked a little closer.... only to realize that she and her fiance were dressed formally ... the room was beautifully decorated.... and I was about to watch them get married!!  Yup.... it was there wedding... and they looked AMAZING!!  Second marriages for both of em.... so their kids (who also walked in and were surprised... but had been told to dress rather formally) ... were their attendants.  It was such a nice evening.... and I got totally verklempt when they read their vows to one another (self written).  Ah well...... Im a sucker for wedding.  I have to say though... you could really FEEL their love.  I guess the second time people take that plunge... its done with a lot more thought.  Not too sure I wanna walk that path again ... but it was really nice thing to witness.... and yea, Im babbling so I'll shut up now.

See what happens when ya ask me about my life here on the "outside".  I ramble .... Okay, CCindy ... shut up!!!

Hope all is going well with you, Steve.  From reading ALL your posts .... sounds like you are doing pretty well.

WOW, CCindy, that wedding sounds nice. This is the first time I've heard of the concept "surprise wedding". Off the top of my head, what comes to my mind is how a couple might fear that in making such an event somewhat unconventional, sometimes a lack of formality, (or not announcing this is a wedding), might become a means of possibly adding disorganisation and even more anxiety to an already important potentially stressful event.  Yet perhaps this is just *me* complicating everything (like I tend to do)... I've often heard of cases where a couple "write's their own vows"..To me this actually makes alot of sense considering the traditional wedding vows IMHO aren't vows many have an easy time adhering to anyway. Yet never having married (did I mention that a tendency for complicating things in a person's head can have it's advantages ? LMAO  ) I don't know just what the "wedding vows" really mean, or how much weight these actually carry. I never gave thought to, or inquired as to how binding these are regarding the legal formality of the establishment. At the expense of sounding naive (not that this has ever stopped me before), assuming a marriage doesn't work,  can one of the partner's of the marriage whip out a copy of their own vow's, and present it to a court claiming...

"Your current grounds for dissolution of marriage aren't binding, there are no irreconcilable differences. Our vow's which supercede civil and family court of law's decisions were written specifically stating that I promised to take her to be my wife only until I get bored with her, met another, approach male menopause and trade her in for a newer model, at which point our contract specifically states that it's fine if we part, or don't respect monogamy"

What do the marital vows actually mean ?  How important a part do they play in the actual contract of marriage ?  Would anyone beyond the couple (that has authority regarding decision making in their marriage) also be  forced to respect their self-written vows ?   or is creativity in "writing your own vows" restricted by other factors larger than what a JP might deem feasible, and vows are only created within boundaries that MUST be adhered to in accordance to the establishment of marriage in our country ?  or is it state law ?

    Damn Kappy... Couldn't you have just said,  "How nice that sounded Cindy", and shut up like other civil and mature people ?  Must you analyze EVERYTHING ?
