I am new to karaoke. I do not know the melodies/words to any songs. I feel that I need to use the multiplex CD?s. I went to two walmart stores and could not find any after going through all the CD?s one by one. The ones on the internet sites are expensive. Where can I get one or two multiplex(country/western) CD?s cheaper? |

karaoke cdgs are by their very nature EXPENSIVE. They are studio reproductions, with paid for licenses of lyrics (sync license) and for the songwriter's lyrics. And not mas produced the way normal cds are. To have mulitplex versions is much more expensive than standard cds. |

I'm not sure which ones you are seeing on the internet and what the prices are that are "too high". There are CDG's out there that aren't multiplex but have separate tracks with guide vocals, the prices range from $12.00 to $22.95 that I'm aware of; of course the number & quality of tracks vary. Regular cdg's aren't often multiplex anymore, many manus have a separate instrumental track & a separate vocal track. Like the Pop Hits Monthly line numbers 1-9 are the instrumental & 10-18 are with vocals included. What do you consider expensive? Most of the karaoke discs run anywhere from $15-$20 for the better discs. WalMart sells several discs that are ok quality & can usually be picked up for around $9-17 or so. Check out karaoke.com, they have sales often just click on the "Whats on sale" link. Also as far as learning the songs, you can always get a lyrics sheet from the internet for the words & go to I-Tunes & download the real song & learn it the correct way. Often times the vocal guides aren't all what they are cracked up to be. |

I personally don't think you should be attempting to sing any songs that you do not know that melody to. This is a mistake many karaoke singers make when they jump up on stage, and it is just asking for a disaster. Why would you want to sing a song that you don't know at all and have never heard? I'd say stick to the songs where you know the melody, then all you have to do is read the words off the screen and fill them into the melody!! I personally never even sing a karaoke song unless I know the lyrics by heart too, but I am a bit of a perfectionist and hate not having it down to a T before I get up in front of a crowd... |
