Newbie to the site. Need your opinions/advice. I have been a DJ for over 12 years (bars, clubs, weddings, Blah, Blah, Blah). Setup I use: Mackie powered bottom and top speakers, Numark CD MIX2 dual cd player, Audio-Technica 3000 wireless mic, and a pretty good light show (light show is a pain in the butt to setup but worth it) . I'm looking into KJing Mon-Thurs. So, all I need is the CDG music and the player. Still kinda cautious on a laptop (me and computers don't mix). If I do go the Laptop way? I'm thinking on using PCDJ FX with controller. Which means I can use it to also DJ. As for as DJing, I do alot of beat mixing. Does MTU Hosters progam have a controller? Can you beat mix with this program or is a strictly karaoke? If I go the CDG Player route? I'm thinking Numark KMX01 (all in one player). Has anybody use the KMX01 Player? What is your opinion on it? I love the Numark CD MIX2 (mixer already built into it). But I know nothing about the KMX01. What other players would you recommend? As for as music, I need your advice on the best startup set of music. I was looking at the Chartbuster Essentials Vol 1-6. 2700 songs, no dups. What is your opinion on this set? Would you recommend Chartbuster Essentials Vol 1-6 or another brands startup set? Once I choose whatever startup set? What other brand sets or packages would you recommend to get my song count up to 5000 "good/most requested" songs. Thanks and looking forward to your opinions/advice, LYNN (I'm a guy) |

Not strictly for karaoke, but most certainly not geared towards DJ’ingQuote: If I go the CDG Player route? I'm thinking Numark KMX01 (all in one player). Has anybody use the KMX01 Player? What is your opinion on it? My opinion does not matter, but I’’ give it anyhow. There are very good karaoke players on the market (JVC or RSQ) that are made for playing karaoke disks, and are not just part of some “thing” that they have slapped together. Also, the numark does not seem to have a key changer, vital on KJ equipment.Quote: I love the Numark CD MIX2 (mixer already built into it). But I know nothing about the KMX01. Thanks Allstar for your advice!! I have couple of questions.: 1. On the JVC or RSQ, what unit and model number you prefer? Or they just about the same? 2. This question goes out to everybody. If you had to start your library over again with the knowledge you have now? Which one would you choice: Chartbusters Essential vol 1- 6 or Soundchoice Foundations 1 & 2 with the bricks? and Why? THANKS, LYNN |

The RSQ equivalent is made by JVC - same machine. Quote: 2. This question goes out to everybody. If you had to start your library over again with the knowledge you have now? THANKS, LYNN Sound Choice Foundation 1 & 2 & the 5 Brick series. Why - Sound Quality & accuracy mainly. The Chartbuster will be good for country, not so good for anything else. I personally only buy from 4 companies & in this order: Sound Choice (for anything) Chartbuster (for country only) Pop Hits Monthly (for current pop/rock/country) Top Hits Monthly (for current pop/rock/country) |

I didn't mean just Brick 5, I mean all 5 Bricks. They consist of good rock & country from the 50's -90's that (at least at my shows) get used often. |

That's cool. I was looking at all of the brick series. Trying to figure out how up to date the last Brick was. Man, this is going to get real expensive! I think if I buy the Foundation 1&2 and all the Bricks at the same time, somebody is going to have to cut me a deal! THANKS |

You can not go wrong with the sound choice brick or foundations! My regulars always know the difference (better quality) of the sound choice compared to some other KJ's in the area! Good Luck! |

Everyone seems to think that the lack of a key changer is a major drawback to the Numark. With an external key changer it's no big deal. After using both the JVC and the Numark, I have to give my vote to the Numark. You can actually cue up the next song at the beginning..very convenient. My biggest complaint about the JVC/RSQ units is that darn display that requires the remote control to turn off. Not a very professional feature at all. RSQ has addressed the rack mount issue, but it still does not look as professional and sleek in the rack like the Numark. Just my 2 cents. Cheers to all. |
