There are a few frontends for winamp for doing karaoke. Several Plugins for playing the files.
to get al you need you should check out RoxBox at www.kjamp.com as it contains everything need excapt for the database to name the files but you can get access to that if you have KJPro, Fast Tracks or Airwer Karaoke songlist creator.
What is included is a copy of winamp, all the karaoke plugins for winamp, a recording program (to reord performances), a songlist making program (uses the database created for your song filenames) and a ripping program that uses the before mentioned songlist databases for naming or you can just type it in.
I have used this program since new years eve 2004.  Before that I used Sax N Dotty's which is a good program but you need to download everything separate and the cost of the program does not include paying for pacemaker's registration and does not include a song book prog, a recording prog or a ripping program. and roxbox's front end opens 2 players, one for karaoke, the other for backing music. you could actuallydj with it as well.  the database splits mp3's and zips into 2 databasesand allows you to access your dj stuff as easy as you access the karaoke through a search as you type interface that doesn't require you to indicate whether you're looking for the artist, song title or book id.

you can do a search for Pacemaker... the package I got years ago didn't have any evaluation with it.

You should be able to find everything you need at www.winamp.com... just do some research on your own!

what is being downloaded from winamp now is for some reason set to put up a nag screen every time you start up s&D or Roxbox is started after a years eval time.
I guess the person who created it now believes that all downloads are headed for comercial use or something. RoxBox when you purchase it includes a registered version of PaceMaker. which is one of the reasons you pay more for it than you do for S&D.  But then again you can mulltirig with RoxBox where you have to pay for evry copy you load onto a computer. I have RoxBox running on two computers, the one I print my books from and the one I do my shows with.
