Hello Everyone

I'm new to this and I need help in setting up a BASIC home system.

My girlfriend is into this and has an all-in-one that we used the other night for our Christmas Party. I was skeptical, but I have to admit, it was the HIT of the party!! Unfortunately, it died but it she has a wireless mic setup and I want to know the cheapest and easiest way to tie that into out home theater system (Denon).

I've seen inexpensive players (esentially DVD players with mic inputs) which will work, but how do I tie the wireless mics into that (yes...I'm a total NEWBIE - I'm sure it's easy and obvious to most of you -- LOL!) One of the reasons it died was people kept tripping over the cord! Don't want to go there again. So, do I just take the output of the wireless box to one of the mic inputs?

chances are your wireless has a 1/4" (out) of the back of it. If your home theater setup has a 1/4" (In) for Microphones this will work just fine. So is the player she has dead? If so you can find several inexpensive players out there. You will want to make sure it has a built in key changer, digital echo, and Mic inputs. There are many places you can go for these. Ace Karaoke one of the sponsors of this site has some really good ones for reasonable prices. You can hook these to your home theater setup via s-video and RCA connections. I will caution you to be careful with regard to volume settings on the microphone as home theater speakers are not equipped to handle the spikes that screaming or loud singing into a microphone create. The speakers could blow quite easily. As long as you keep the microphone settings moderate you should be ok. I have seen many people use this method and it works just fine.

Thanks, Larry :dancin: You might want to invest in a separate mixer to place between the player and the amp but your assumption of where to plug the wireless receiver box is correct. the mike inputs of the dvd players are kinda cheaply made and sound horrible even with wired mikes. Wireless makes it that much worse. Check out the VocoPro Da-1000. I use it in my system and it actually sounds good.

Well,......Let's back up and see what's broke on the all-in-one first. The odds are it is only the mic cable that got hurt. If so, then the odds are it is at one end or the other that the cable is damaged...Or at worst, the mic jack on the unit...Any of those things are really easy to fix unless you have one of those super cheap-o mics with molded cable ends and a glued together disposable system box. Look to see if you can unscrew the mic cable connector covers on each end to expose the wire connections....If so, look close as you flex the wires and see if a wire is broken where it is soldered at the mic or plug ends....A break there can be repaired in two minutes depending on your soldering skills. KJ's always carry several spare mic cables and learn to repair them cause, like you learned, they break easily. As for the wireless to home adapter question, if you can manage to connect it, I doubt you will be happy with the way it sounds compared to your all in one unless you have the very cheapest all in one made.

Yes......the mic cable is shot......and being a cheapie that came with the inexpensive All-In-One.......it does not unscrew - it's permantently attached. But the bigger problem is the machine kept locking up. It's time for a replacement and seeing as how this will be a very popular thing with both her and her daughter AND my family during parties....I'd rather go with something that came remain setup UNOBTRUSIVELY with our home theater system. I saw a good little unit at Sam's club that would be good for your situation it stands about 4 feet has a screen and a built in amp and sounds pretty good for a home unit. the reason I suggest this is you can hook it up Video and audio) to your system ...But most of all the daughter can take it in her bedroom to practice alone or with friends leaving the livingroom for mom to watch lifetime movies. it was only $169.00 I think. Just aThought After I wrote this I re Read the original post The whole question was to get a wireless mic hooed up. in my humble opinion I would get the unit from Sams and a Nady wirless UHF mic with an XLR Female to 1/4 inch cable and youll be set.

I saw one of those types of systems today at Radio Shack. And while it looks decent I want something that essentially looks and IS a component in our Home Theater system permantly. I've seen a few that essentially are DVD players with Mic inputs. Although our system already has a DVD player integrated into it - this seems the easiest way to go. http://www.karaoke.com/cgi-bin/WebObjects/Karaoke.woa/wa/Karaoke/product?sku=NIC7500 Something like the above system is what I'm leaning towards.......I just wish I could find one that has a MIC INPUT in the rear so that the line from the Wireless mic component isn't hanging out in front. Any recommendations on a component Karaoke player?
