Hi Guys,

I am new to this forum and have recently started my own karaoke business in New Zealand. Currently we are importing all the gear from Ace Karaoke in LA - mainly all in one units (acesonic thillers) for renting. So far the systems are doing great, not a single problem, however we require something more powerfull and robust for bigger venues (50-80 people). The unit consists out of a API-501 Amp. and CAVS 202G SCDG Player, which is a bit slow on loading but does a great job. The built-in speakers are 250W and it is OK for small venues, but nothing else. I would still prefer all in one units but would like to use some bigger a better speakers on the side with horn tweeters.

I am thinking of the following setup and need your advise and recommendation:

- VocoPro DA-9800 RV 600W Amp.
- CAVS 203G SCDG Player
- JBL MP215 Speaker System
- Shure SM58 Wireless Mics.
- Do I need to add a sub?

If there is anything better out there I would appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Many thanks.

Warm Regards from NZ

Peter

I don't PERSONALLY like vocopro systems. They look good, sound good, but I've heard way too many horror stories from folks I personally know to entice me to purchase a vocopro amp or karaoke player.

Now, having said that, understand it's JUST my opinion!!!

Seeing how you are way over there in New Zealand, you might want to consider equipment that is more reliable and easier to deal with when it fails.

I can't think of a single all-in one karaoke system that would fit those requirements and be as reliable as pro audio component system.

I would however, look hard at the Peavey TriFlex system. It is a portable PA that is self powered @ 1000 watts and includes built in bass effects and speaker stands.Go to the Peavey web site and take a look.

You would have to rack up a small mixer and player to go with it, tho. I would select the Numark CDN25+G player cause it will fit in a rack case with any rackable mixer.

So that would leave you basically with two packages to deal with. One would contain a complete and powerful amp/speaker system, and the other would hold the mixer and CDG player.....Ok, ok I forgot, the third package would hold the mics, song books, music and cables.

That's about as reliable, portable and professional as you can get for the size crowd you mentioned.

And besides that, it would knock your socks off when compared to Voco pro or whoever soundwise.

You are actually quite right, we are a bit far away from rest of the world and Karaoke is relatevely new here. It would be very hard to service the equipment in case of system failure, so it has to be reliable. I had a look at the Peavy TriFlex and looking at the specs. it looks awesome. What mixer do you recommend? Once again tks for pointing me in the right direction....
