Here lately at parties we have doing there are teens that absolutely blow us away A gal sat night was about 16.. An old singing buddy of mine who is a musian and has had a few bands said she is good.. (WE were sober) First time in 15 years that he ever made a comment like that...
I have a theory that the ones with even cheap karaoke systems at home have deveoped their vocal abilities at a critical time and lost their inhibitions. I have kids 4 or 5 years old that sing and I can only imagine how they will sound in 10-15 years..

It makes sense that karaoke would expose certain individual's to something they'd never otherwise have exposure to. Seem's that it would increase number's of aspiring vocalists, and give them an incentive to try an area of performing without having to worry about being professional, or performing in an otherwise more formal environment, where expectations are different. It is a great means of exposing a larger segment of the population to singing.

We have seen the same thing with some teens. But they still have to put up with a lot of peer pressure. We had one teen that was absolutely great, and shortly after that (after several friends from school showed up) she got all shy and embarrased acting. She definately sounds like she had been singing for a while, and once she gets past the peer pressure, or is in the right environment, she can rock.
