Hello,

I've just discovered karaoke two days ago and while I get some  better software, I have been using Winamp.

I have downloaded quite a number of songs that I used to sing but since today, oh surprise, the lyrics won't appear anymore ! Even when I go to a website and open the zips before downloading the songs again on my computer !

Does anyone have an idea of what this is due to ? Is there something on Winamp that I should turn on/turn off ? Does Winamp not memorize the lyrics ? But then again, why wouldn't the lyrics not appear when I want to open the folders on the websites ?

Is there a good software I should use, better than Winamp ? I haven't got the slightest idea.

You may have "updated" winamp, but more than that, it won't play the .cdg extention IN a .zip folder. You need to "unzip them" to either a folder or area and play them from that.

You didn't mention what version you're using, etc...

If all else, uninstall winamp and re-install it. Then be careful on what you click on! I never update winamp! BUT my buddy Tig has the newest versions and it works well for him. Go Figure!

it could be user error and the graphic window has accidentally been dragged off screen... I will lose the graphics window now and then as I change desktop sizes or drag it to another monitor... might try changing desktop size to maximum size and then playing your mp3+g file and see if the graphics window has simply slid off the screen... I change my desktop size to 1600X1200 and I usually will find the missing window...- tig

if the graphics window has "disappeared" but still active, you'll see the box on the bottom of your screen (right side of the "toolbar")... look for something that says "cdg" or a window that's not got an explanation when you put your mouse over it and hold it there for a few moments.

I wanted to thank everyone who replied to my post. I tried to follow your advices on Winamp but the lyrics window will definitely not re-open. I really don't know what's wrong (I have Winamp 5.01). Maybe I did something wrong which dragged off the lyrics windows, without realizing it...

I decided to download KaraFun and my songs and lyrics work fine on it so I guess I'll keep the latter. And of course, it's much better because it offers many more possibilities that I hadn't with Winamp...

I don't know if there are better karaoke softwares (I suppose there are) but meanwhile, I'll use KaraFun which seems swell, at least for someone like me who is a real beginner.

Again, thanks to all of you who have answered, trying to help me find the problem with Winamp. I guess it's maybe because Winamp doesn't read CDG or maybe I would have had to re-install it.

definately not a winamp problem as many of us use it without a problem, and have for years! I know I personally use 2.8 but that tig is working with version 5 without complaint. sometimes you have to right-click and "maximize" a window application. Could also be a naming error.

But if you are getting a software to work with ya, then great!
