Post subject:  Suggestion for new forum relating strictly to "How to get the best sound from your equipment"

Hello all,

I really like this site and the forums here and the folks that post, but I feel that maybe we could use a separate forum that relates strictly to the science of "sound reinforcement"....Or how best to select and properly use the electronic equipment we have in our racks and on the store shelf.

Several users here have years of experience with the subject and those folks have extremely valuable info to share.

I know the "Technical" forum is maybe intended to include this subject, but often it is flooded with other off-topic items.

Everyone might agree that good sound is essential to a great karaoke show. It just ain't enuff to have a huge list of popular songs and a great venue and a truck full of expensive equipment....We also need to learn all the science and basics needed to use it properly.

Maybe the site owner will agree. If so, I vote for Lonman to kick it off with a post or two on equipment selection and use.

Actually i've tried to talk the mods into creating sub topics in the tech section such as mixers, processors, players, computers, speakers, mics, etc....Nothing ever became of it.

I think it would be a WONDERFUL idea!!! :oh yeah:  Even with the search option, it is insane trying to find a topic your looking for. I go blind every time I'm looking for something in particular, because you still have to sift through all the fluff... :headscratch:   And Lord knows it was easier for me to pick out my base equipment (player, amp, speakers, mixer, disks) than it is to figure out what a condensor does :? , or where I'd hook up a feedback eliminator, and all the other cool "add ons" I'd like to get...

Great idea and I think Lonnie is the perfect choice to kick it off.

Yeah, there really is a ton of stuff to share!

You would be surprized to know how many people don't have a clue and struggle with even the simplest basics like how to design the proper signal path and properly connect all their components.

I'm thinking that if this site started offering more solid tech info then they would attract advertizing from the best pro audio equipment makers...And the great part is that the info would be provided free by forum members!

As it stands, KJ's have to wander away from this site to various other sites to find that info.....It ain't not good business whenever your customers drift away and get interested elsewhere.....

Then there is the aspect where if this site grew to be a "tech expert's" place to come for info, then maybe the equipment makers would offer more KJ/DJ oriented equipment with features we really need.
