Im thinking about getting a "Bose Personalized Amplification System™"
I use an RSQ single tray and do an impersonation show.
Right now I use A Peavey X600G and 2 PR12 speakers with a couple of Kustom 10 inch monitor's.
A sonic maximizer
and a vocal effects box

Im trying to get good sound and have way less to tote along to each Gig.
Anyone with any expierince with a Bose Personalized Amplification System™
Please share with me.
before I spend $2,000

Not a personal experience but I have heard that Bose system is not really up to par. The power is lacking and the sound is not really clean for systems for Karaoke. It plays the music ok but for professional sound it lacks. This is from a friend who has tried it. Again, I haven't heard it personally so I have no clue but just passing on what I heard.

Opinion:  overpriced!  For the same amount you can get a darn nice amp/speaker combo.  I listened to it in Guitar Center & it didn't have any ooomph - although it did sound the same throughout the room, just not very full sounding like a standard PA is capable of.

Bose also states that they aren't really designed for dj work or music playback - which karaoke is 50%.

now, a local kj I know has this system, and she loves it for the simple ease of use with her not being able to lift heavy speakers!!

My opinion is it's okay, but overpriced.

I can definately see the pros and cons!

Thanks for the input. I Just went ahead and ordered the set PAS with Bass speaker also for $1999.99.... lol cant believe I did it, But Im soo wanting to knock the lugging a bunch of crap to do a show. I do Nursing homes a lot ( old ladies dig the Sinatra) so I really want a good sound but quick set up.

I ordered it from MF with a 45 Day return Policy. I figgered if it isnt what I need I can send it back. I will keep you posted on the status.

I have a few thoughts. First, I know that Karaoke has a peculiar reputation, but I have to say the few times I have seen people doing it, they were having a ball. I mean, what's wrong with people singing their hearts out to their favorite music? I saw one big get-together when I was in China, and it was really, really fun and a few of the singers were excellent. It's an active form of music making, which is better than any TV.

As for how the system will work, I have no doubts about its performance. The speaker is designed to be a magnifying glass of whatever you want. If you have great Karaoke backing tracks they will sound great. If you use a certain kind of vocal microphone (e.g. SM58) we've developed a preset for that microphone that optimizes its performance when used with the Cylindrical Radiator(tm) speaker. To my knowledge that alone can not be found anywhere else. Finally, you will spread the sound more consistently throughout the performer and audience area than any other approach. Folks close to the speaker will not get blown out and folks far away will enjoy full entertainment quality sound.

These are my experiences and those of many, many owners, some of whom have written on this forum. Of course, you will have to judge this for yourself. Try em out. I don't think you will want to perform any other way once you hear this remarkable new speaker.

For the best sound your going to want 2 sticks and 2 Subs to run a stereo system.

Many DJ's have moved to the Bose PAS and love them.

For my higher end weddings I am planning on getting 2 sticks to run with my Mackie Subs. They sound great but in my opinion the little Bose subs just don't have enough Bump.

Read your manual there are a number of settings you have to change with the remote to optimize for music playback. Once you change the settings they sound fantastic.

Got my Bose System last night... was disapointed when I first hooked it up.
I hooked up my Samson Mini 6 Mixer
My Sonic Maximizer, RSQ single Tray and my Nady wirless mic.
and my Vox303 effect's box.

After screwing with the levels and all inputs and out put's I finallygot it sounding good.

Thismorning I got up and Decided to go out and get a Newer mixer, with Effects
I ened up Getting a cheap Behringer Eurorack UB1204FX ($129.00)
came home hooked it up and holy crap this thing is sounding great.
750 watts crankin......I pulled the Vox effect's out of the system I can get the whole system in the Back seat of my Ford Sport Trac. unreal . I figure it will take 3 trips to the truck now instead of 6, to do a show. no more hauling speaker's , speaker stands, monitors...the whole thing takes about 10 minutes to hook up. it sounds so good Im happy with it now....just a note to let you know how it went ...cant wait to do my first show with it...

Why would I need a more expensive Mixer ? it seems to work just Fine.
Instead of starting out with the name calling why don't you try to explain what the problem is.

But from reading other post's you have made and other name calling, never mind.

Not picking on you, just the concept. I have my issues with the Bose system and there are solutions to make the system, quite a buy. The radiant dispursement vs the tradional directional is a nice feature. I have found that it is not practical for all applications. Some rooms just swallow the sound and you can never get the desired level. The modification I find is that to my liking the system can't be use without some real subs. The Bose tiny bass boxes just don't cut it. I heard the system with the subs I use Mackie SWA1501, and it sounded great.

Mic preamps are the heart of any system. The Behringer mixers while decent in price the preamps just don't cut it. They are thin and noisy, the better mixer one buys the better the preamps will be, if it were practical I would use racked tube preamps, but for a genaral karaoke show it is just not worth it.

You bought yourself a nice system, some say high end. Why would you buy the least expensive mixer on the market. You may not notice now, but Behringer will just not hold up. The new Yamaha mixers are not much more in price and much more quality. You say it sounds good because of the speaker upgrade, sure it does. With a good mixer it would sound even better.

One can do many things to improve onse sound that are not that expensive. Upgrading to high end wires, and a decent mixer is where i see everyone go wrong.

Spend the extra $150 and upgrade to a yamaha mixer you won't regret it, and in a year you'll be thanking me because you are not buying a new mixer.

Other than that I hope you bought 2 sticks beacuse 1 will not cut it.

I'm not sure of the weight or exact size of the Bose PAS system but the B-52 Matrix 1000 or Matrix 2000 will give you more oomph at a lower price ($1500 for the Matrix 2000).

I've seen on in use and was actually pretty impressed.  I don't have a Bose dealer nearby so I've not had a chance to see the PAS in use.  There is an excellent write up on another DJ site I read a while back.  PM me if you want a link to the site for review (I don't usually recommend one site on another - it's bad netiquette).

I went to the show that Matt made mention of and thought the bose system sounded a bit thin. Perhaps if a second unit had been in place. But to my ears it just sounded a bit thin.

Yep, MTU edited my forum comments several times...They either deleted or rewrote them whenever I complained about the shortcomings of their software.....In the end it looked like I was a happy camper.
