Post subject:  Karaoke with video
What brands of CD+G have video in addition to having good sound quality.  I knwo Sound Choice is usually pretty good at reproduction of the original songs, but they have no videos, just words.  I seem to remember when karaoke first came out years ago, everyone had videos.  Now they don't.  Is there a reason for this?

Pioneer was the make of the LaserKaraoke.  The 12" video discs that all had the videos.  At the time these were about the only format you could get - DK (the only cdg at the time) was relatively new, but cdg quickly caught on as more & more people did NOT want the video plus it was cheaper to produce the cdg's as they didn't have to go into big productions for the videos.  The cdg manu's were able to produce more music & newer music fast than the video companies which eventually drove them out of the market almost entirely.

you can still get some of the old pioneers in laser form and in dvd format...

the shame is dvd karaoke actually picked up a few years after Pioneer went into the market with theirs... after loosing their buttsky in the process!

As far as VCD's I like World Star...  They were out for a short time but were grossly marked up on-line.  

The videos on World Star were mostly scenery so they aren't real distracting but give a little bit more to see than the blank screens of CDG's.  They are also MPX, not needed for karaoke at the club but nice if you don't know the song and want to learn it.

Okay, yeah, most karaoke places I see don't have videos.  They seem pretty silly most of the time anyway.

 I remember the first show I used them at. All young "kids" (21-30). They never even knew they existed.....but wanted to sing to them all the time after that. I'm with you....NEVER...part with them or "delete" them from my show...EVER!!!!! :hi5:

OOOPS, Somebody's gonna get mad at me.....How would I convert my lasers to mpegs...and after I did that...could I convert that to either dvd/vcd? I'm not computor literate so don't ANYBODY yell at me or the guy with the BIG BLACK LINCOLN will be coming to visit you for "personal inter-action 101" :swg: !!!

It used to be and old song would take one back 20 or 30 years and halfway around the world..... Now if you see one of the old laser videos it has the same effect and reminds you of a singer havnt seen in years....

the place I go to..... he has the playboy videos....

Loveshack was an interesting one... a lot of boobs and soapy water.... and a shack! LOL!

and practically EVERY beatles song he has is a playboy video..... they seem to be pretty popular...


can't imagine why.....

I have one...ONE VCD with the worst videos...and the SAME girl in all of them...they suck. all she does is walk around and pout...I'm sure she has a zit on her lip., at least..i'm HOPING it's a zit...LOL

I gave my Pioneer laser discs to imatunelover...

our favorite was the beatles one...eight days a week...WHOA!!...that dude on there....i'm thinking we girls never really sang that song...we just ooood...aaaahd...drank our shots...and ticked our men off with all our drooling..

ahhhh...them were the days...LOL

True story  We were about 3 sheets to the wind sittin at the end of the bar A monitor stuck in the back bar had videos from CMT on it.  Dan was staring at it and he mumbles  how come that song dont have the words with it? LOL

OMG!! I can definitely see that happening!!!  And I can relate!  Once, sitting at a bar with a group of friends the song was over and one of our KJ's & I started clapping.... Problem was, it was a jukebox!
