I've finally taken the plunge to become a computerized KJ and am in the process of ripping my discs to the hard drive. I've been using CDRWIN to rip the tracks to the hard drive, then converting the files to a format that I can play using MP3+G Toolz. The problem is that some disc manufacturers (Top Tunes and some Sound Choice) have added a second session to the disc that keeps CDRWIN from reading the disc. Is there a different piece of software that I can use to load these songs or am I just doomed to carrying those discs and playing them the old fashioned way. The other option I guess is to remove them from the songbooks, but unfortunately they are some of the more popular discs I own. HELP! I know I can count on you guys--you've never let me down before! |

Nothing against the moderators or regular posters in this forum... I love you all... However I would like to see a tech thread in this forum that isnt high jacked by legal beagles, judges, or anything not pertaing to the discussion at hand and carried to a conclusion that makes a good school and review for those of us that have ripped for years.... And later on someone can do a search in this forum and get a good thread without having to sift thru tons of bull (@$%!) I know I am guilty of same but trying to change............. |

audiograbber. I use version 1.82... I even have a help instructional tutorial. http://www.knightshow.com/tech_help/Audiograbber.htm If you're going to use LAME_ENC.dll, I have that on my zipped folder. http://www.knightshow.com/zipped/lame_enc.zip |

Tig was telling me that CDRWIN WILL do it too Big M, but you have to go into another option OTHER than the initial extract tracks screen. I think the top right box is another copy/rip section, where you can go to ISO, etc. I'd ask goldenhawk directly!! |

I sort of got in the habit of using cdrwin to put bins in a folder then naming and using mp3g+toolz to convert to zip. I just paid for 3 months update from kjj pro and need to figure out which one it is that uses the data base to name them all... When I first tried whatever it was didnt have very good luck with it and forgot about it... Matt is it grabber? What sample rate is most ripping to now? Some tracks it makes a big difference to rip 200+... Cdrwin can rip the last track but it is a pain.... My Rippin Page |

jam, I've been ripping to .bin files using CDRWIN. From there I've converted them to .zip files using MP3G Toolz. I've been putting them into folders by disc, and then using the same track numbers that I have always used. Therefore when I go into the computer drive, it's basically the same as pulling the disc from the case--I select the disc, then cue the track. My discs all had a 5 digit number code. The first three were the disc number and the last two were the track. All my songs then have a number like 123-45 to make them easy to find. So to demonstrate, in CDRWIN, when you select tracks, you have to choose a folder to extract the tracks. I would create a folder with the number of the disc. then for the track number I would type in the disc number followed by a dash (123-) and then when the tracks were ripped the program added the track number after the dash. |

Why don't karaoke manufacturers just offer the disk in a downloaded format already converted to mp3+G and tagged so KJ's don't have to go through all this. They would save on production costs of the discs and the KJ's buying it would likely get a break in price. I think that in the next 5 years, we're going to see a drastic change from physical media (CD's and CD+G's) being moved to a download format where by, you download either to your computer or you walk into a store with a flash-memory drive, much like the USB drives of today and download it, then pay for it.. |

Mike, If you use a hosting program you lose the option to search for a song by title or artist if you use a custom numbering system. Just a thought..... my tracks are labeled As (Sc7501-01 - Elvis Presley - Heartbreak Hotel.Zip) the hosting program lets me search for a song by Disk # - Title or Artist. Before you rip all your CD's make sure its how you want them labeled cause its a (@$%!) to goback and redo them all. Djpauly |
