At the risk of sounding redundant. I, too, would like to ask for some advice about setting up/upgrading my current karaoke system for home use.

I have an approximately 7 year old stackable Vocopro karaoke system.  The top section (or rack if that's what it's called) holds a cdg 2000 component and then below that is the karaoke mixer/amplifier.  The bottom part is a speaker.  The problem I have is that  this thing is a monster.  It's bulky and extremely heavy.   I also have two Soundtech floor speakers, an assortment of microphones and appoximately 150 cdg's.

Again, I'm not interested in taking my show on the road, but would like to be able to use it at home without breaking my back in an attempt to set everything up.  Ideally I would like to use an old laptop computer to load my cdg's and maybe even record a few songs.

First, what I'm trying to figure out is what type of software/hardware do I need on my laptop in order to do this?  Secondly, would you recommend using the two individual components (the cdg 2000 and the mixer/amplifier) from my old karaoke system or do I need to purchase a new mixer/amplifier/cdg to work with my laptop?  Although the Soundtech floor speaks are not top quality, they're really not all that bulky or heavy so I could probably incorporate those into my system (if necessary).

As you can tell, I'm lost at trying to put this thing together and would really appreciate any advice offered.
