the pan melody is actually supposed to be the vocal tone... so if your singer is doing their job right, you won't hear it!...

You can try adjusting the midrange, but you bottom it out too low, and the song sounds crappy!

Boost the vocals on the singer!

Just thought I'd point out that the only time I hear this is in a quiet room or bar.  If the bar is packed or if the singer is singing I don't normally pick up on this.

You could try using any of the vocal removal methods to pull it out but it's likely going to be worse than if you did nothing...

I agree with you for live performance, but not for studio recording, the vocal guide if often way too loud and cannot be covered by your singing, too bad, cuz they have some great backing :(

The funny thing with DK karaoke and the melody line is that I did not notice it a first until someone pointed out to me.  Now I notice it all the time at home, but I does not seem to bother me in the club environment.  I really do not thing it helps when you are singing.  However, if you don't know parts of the melody, maybe listening to it a few times may help you get it right.  If you are singing off or adding your own "flair" to the song it will annoy you even more.

The underlying pan flute vocal guide that is on nearly every dk recording.

Wow, I never knew that... I mean, I've heard the flute before and just figured that well, flute players need jobs too...

Makes sense now.  Truthfully, it sounds kind of retarded.
