I'm working on a home Karaoke setup. I just bought a Behringer UB1204FX-Pro mixer. I'm running my PC to this and I'm getting a signal just fine. The problem is I'm getting no output. I originaly ran RCA outs from the tape out to my receiver but didn't get anything. I then went and bought rca to 1/4" adapters and ran it from the Stereo Aux returns but still not getting anything. The main mix levels show that I'm getting signal. I'v made sure that the Main Mix button is pushed but I'm not getting any sound. I tried hooking a mic to channel 1 but also no output. Am I doing something wrong or do I have a bad mixer? Thanks. |

Have you try the main output located at the back. You may need an xlr /rca cable. |

No I haven't tried those yet. I guess I'll have to find me some cables. I didn't realize that ouput only came out of there. This is my first mixer and the docs leave a lot to be desired. |

Ok I went and got a couple XLR to RCA adaptors and I'm running from the main outs on the back of the mixer to my receiver but I'm still not getting any sound. Any other ideas? Like I said the meter is measuring the music I'm sending in from my PC just fine just no output no matter what I do. Should I take the mixer back? |

Check the following buttons: Tape - Out Alt 3-4 -Out Main Mix - In Tape to Main - Out Main Mix/Alt 3-4 - Out Mode - In (PFL) Main Mix sliders 25% Aux Send's - both Out |

Okay, I've a 24 channel but.... Make sure you aren't muted. Yellow light dead give away. Main sliders should be up... Sliders to the channel you're trying to hear, and GAIN Knob is another volume button. If this all sounds obvious, sorry, for me it is usually the obvious I miss 
When you plug in headphones are you hearing anything? |

And try other input like, mic, or change the input from your lap top thru one of the channel strip. And lastly make sure the power is ON. |

Well I finally got the main outs working but never could get any sound out of the Tape outs. Now my only issue is I get an annoying hum when my LCD monitor is powered on. |

That hum is probably the electromagnetic field of the monitor hitting whatever nearby cables are going into the mixer, so you need to possibly go get some shielded cables or move your components away from the monitor a few more feet. |

Also, it sounds like you are running a PA mixer with a home theater receiver. I know that this is technically possible to do, but understand that the PA mixer is not meant to handle the consumer-grade output of a home-theater receiver, but rather the commercial-grade output from a PA amp. You have to be really careful when not using a PA mixer as intended, as you could fry the board pretty easily!! They do make consumer-grade mixers that are meant for applications with a home-theater receiver. Most of the VocoPro line of mixers, mixing amps, etc. is consumer-grade stuff that would be more suited to your application than the Beringer PA mixer. |

If you are using a pc as you music input the hum is ground loop interferance. You can pick up a ground loop isolator from radio shack for $16 |

Should that go between the PC and mixer or the Mixer and receiver? Could it also be fixed by using a 3 to 2 prong adapter for the monitor power supply? |

Feel free to lift the ground on each device....Just take care not to kill yourself....Use a groungless adapter on the 110 volt input and swap it around to each device until the hum goes away...If it doesn't then lift the grounds on your patch cables in same fashion....It is possible that a patch cable is too close to a 110 lead, but usually it is a groung loop in the 110 or patch cable. You need to listen to the guy who advised about the mixer not being compatable with a home receiver.....you can make sound with it, but you can quickly smoke the receiver inputs.....It ain't going to hurt the mixer, but it can overload the receiver instantly....When you damage the receiver you could also damage the speakers, so be cool....Your mixer is capable of outputting 8 volts....I doubt your receiver can accept that level....Most home receivers hit max output power when they see .5 volts input, so be cool. But if you insist on using your home receiver, then do it this way..... Hook PC output up to mixer stereo input strip....Crank that strip input to 2/3rd's if it has mic input gain twisty knob, if it doesn't has a input gain twisty at top of strip just ignore it and proceed with the rest of this >....Place stereo strip slider up to unity and leave it there.....Slide mixer masters to bottom...Crank receiver volume knob to max......Start playing track on PC....Now slide mixer masters up until you hear program material thru speakers....increase mixer master sliders until you like it or you hear distortion....Odds are you will hear distortion before sound pressure levels are enuff.....If you hears distortion, crank all twistys and sliders down starting at stip and thru signal chain until it clears up.....Then you will understand why you don't wanna use home receiver with pro mixer. You fersure want a pro mixer.....So that means you need to improve what comes after it. |
