Can someone enlighten me cocerning the Vocopro Idol 200W DVD/CGD All-In One System.  I just parchased a used one.  Not being a KJ I really don't need a lot of expensive equipment.  Any Comments will be appreciated.

My not being a professional kj and a beginner in karaoke to boot, I have a lot of questions.  Could you explain as to why you feel the way you do concerning Vocopro.  Hopefully, I'ts good for home use.

Just not durable, or reliable for the main thing.  Other than that, they just aren't that good for much other than wishing other companies would take their ideas & put some quality to them.
If you have a stereo, you'd be better off just getting something like the JVC/RSQ single tray player http://www.karaoke.com/cgi-bin/WebObjec ... &key=19005

This is one of those grey areas where the unit LOOKS it'll work well, but just doesn't perform as Lonnie indicates. They're prone for graphic errors, as well as cd issues. Now Vocopro DOES have a good customer support basis, which is definately in their favor.

I'd rather buy a unit I don't have to have serviced (or even the hint of it)... and my JVC and RSQ players have done just that!

READING YOUR ORGINAL  question--It looks like you've already purchased the unit
Besides the fact that most pro KJ's won't reccomend Vocopro due to reasons stated previously and speaking from experience (I can confirm).  Is there anything else you need to know about Karaoke Players in general ?

Thanks for the reply.  Vocopro 200W system is only a few months old and I got it for and extremely low price.  Now I have to figure out how to record using it.
Once again, thanks.

After all ya'lls comments, I sent an e-mail to Vocopro asking them to visit our forum and to try to explain why some of the KJs' feel like they do about Vocopro.  They actually responeded.  Which  impresses me; I really didn't expect and answer.  Here is a copy of their e-mail.

"Mr. McGinley:

Yes, We had some trouble early days on some VocoPro products. Mainly on the Karaoke Amplifiers. The problem was the Amp. will stop working after few years or few month. At first we did not know why. So we just repair or replace them to the end user. But it will come back again in a few month.

Finally We figured out most of the end user that's having problem was using big P.A. speakers rated 2 or 3 time more then the Amp. (this was before VocoPro come out of our own Vocal speaker to match the system). This sounded GREAT in the beginning BUT it was too much for the Amp. to handle. So it had much higher failed rate then our normal rate of 1-2%.

The VocoPro IDOL use components that match each other & was tested for 6 month BEFORE we bring it out to the public. So we know this is a GREAT unit. The only thing we suggest is that if You need to run additional or bigger speakers to expand the sound. please add a P.A. amp. like our VP-300,VP-600 or the VP-2100 to drive the additional / bigger speakers.

Please fell comfortable that you made the best choice. VocoPro have been the leader in Professional Karaoke hardware for 12 years. And we are proud of the product & the service we offer. If you have additional concern or commons. Please fell free to contact us by e-mail or by phone.

Happy Singing,

Best Regards,

Jason/VocoPro
