First of all I'd just like to say hello to everyone - I don't post a lot around here but I would like say thank you to all of you who have been commenting and helping me out in the showcase, it really means a lot to me, and you are all so talented! :)

Right now I want to get in contact with a producer so that we (hopefully) could work on some songs together.
So I need to choose a nice song to send to him, that I can sing a capella and that manages to showcase my voice effectively...
Do you guys know any songs that work good a capella?
I was considering "Streets of Philadelphia" by Bruce Springsteen, but I'm not sure that would work well, what do you guys think?

Thanks in advance for your help :handshake:

If this is a company, as opposed to a friend, they're generally going to listen to less than the first minute before their decision is made.  This is just what I've read and heard in several different places.

Generally, I think you should pick a song you know well enough to hear the music in your head.  And of course, one you do well.  I've found that personally, I couldn't do say Pat Benatar acapella.  It just doesn't feel right, and so it doesn't sound right.  I need that there music.  However Jewel songs and POP I can usually manage, and of course old folk songs....

But as I don't know your genre well enough, I can only speak in generalities. :)

With these old standards, the right singer could give me goosebumps.  I think most of them give you the opporunity to show range, vibrato and other attributes.

The Star Spangled Banner
America the Beautiful
Amazing Grace
How Great Thou Art
When You Wish Upon a Star
Somewhere Over the Rainbow
