I go with the same triple tray from jVC or RSQ which is a proven work horse and industry standard for KJ's |

I agree...the rsq and jvc are the best player for the $$$. Quick seek times, the convenience of the triple trays that you can change while one of the other trays play. I started out with the JVC 303 and it lasted me for 3 years and is still going strong. I replaced it with a Numark N25G, which is also a great player if you need something to rack mount. Overall, though, the industry standard definately has to be the JVC and RSQ 303! |

I have and like the RSQ triple tray as well and would readily recommend it. My favorite (that I've used at least) though is the Pioneer twin-tray. I've seen it as low as $299 new, but usually it's more. I think the Pioneer reads quicker, and I like the time-remaining display, as well as the ability to pre-pause it - these aren't major features, but they make it a bit more convenient to work with IMO. |

my problem with the Pioneer twin tray is that it doesn't do the VCDs where the RSQ and JVCs do. It's also quieter when hooked up into a mixer than the jvc/rsq units! with most people's mixers, this is hardly a problem, but I've noticed a very noticable difference in sound!! |

For the very little use we get for dvd or vcds maybe 3-4 times a year and usually with Asian university students, we use a 100 dollar cdn electrohome machine which is used as back up for the Pioneer, if ever necessary, whcich it hasn't for over 5 years. As for the sound, it's plugged into the mixer and you never hear the mechanics of the machine, it's better than those who in this area have used the JVC or RSQ but that's more because they don't know how to use thier systems. |

If I could only get a single player it would get the RSQ 333 triple tray player. If I could get two players I'd consider the CAVS 203G (but it has long que times for CDG's) or even the RJTech 4100 (or later) models. These both support DVD's in addition to VCD's and CDG's. BTW, I have both an RSQ 333 and a CAVS 203G in my rack. I have a Coby, 2 RJTech's and a couple other players at the house. Guess why the players in my rack are in my rack?

I have a cavs 203 also that I have used for about 3 months and haven`t had 1 problem with it although I have heard nothing but negative stuff about it? I do agree it is very very slow and that is frustrating to say the least. Let me ask this question, can I go into circuit city or any other type of electronic store and buy a JVC take it home and play cdg`s thru it? I guess what Im asking will that JVC players read those type of cdg`s?

they won't read the SUPERcdgs that the cavs203 player recognizes. but you can play cds, cdgs, and vcds in both players! |

BTW, if you are stacking components go with the RSQ 333 - it's a little cheaper than the JVC most of the time and carries a 1 year warranty instead of 90 days. If you're rack mounting consider the CDN25+G. It's a professional rack mount unit that has gotten excellent reviews on this board. Each of these typically sells for about $300. As for picking up the JVC unit at Circuit City, etc. Forget it. They don't typically stock the unit since it's designed mainly for karaoke use. Check with the vendors here on the board for starters. IIRC I bought mine from DTS Karaoke (which I believe is an advertiser here) in an eBay auction but I'm not 100% sure. |

When I was in Sam Ash a few weeks ago, I noticed they were selling the Numark CDN25G for $199.00. I believe it was supposed to have been on special for the entire month of August. I'm not too sure if that only applies to my local store, but that is the cheapest I have ever seen that unit. The only drawback is that it does not have a built in key changer. Besides that I like it better than the JVC. |

My two cents: The JVC 303. Great Player. I got mine on-line refurbished for $299 w/ free shipping and a 30 day warrenty. Plus it's such a widely used player, that if you DO run into a problem, someone here may have the solution for you. |

I've seen those players NEW, not reconditioned for as low as $249 with mic AND 6 disc sampler pack, next price up is $279 for new - not recon. but no discs or mic. |
