Since this is Oldies week, I was wondering if anyone would be interested in playing a game of who can submit the oldest "Oldie". I will automatically disqualify my entry since I don't think anyone can come close to circa 1790 (Ombra mai fu). How about it? What is your "Oldie" and how old is it really? |

Well, I just submitted Anything Goes (1934). I think the only non-classical songs I know that are earlier than that are from "Showboat". Since my karaoke machine is in the shop, I can't record any of those, but I did submit "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man" last year sometime. |

Well I'd submitted "The Water is Wide" It began as a Scottish Folk song named "Waly Waly" back in the 1600's so that's perty old . It probably doesn's sound much like it did then though |
