Post subject: | Seeking Advice |
Hi, I am hoping someone can give me some insght on helping me in fixing the drawer on my player. What has happened is sometime during loading/unloading/transportation the drawer has been bumped against causing it to go 'off track' and now it isn't functioning properly. It is a RSQ (JVC) single drawer by the way. Of course the warrenty has already ran out and I am against a wall trying to figure out what to do next. Is it any big thing to fix? Any help/advice would be appreciated. Thank you!! |

Most of the time when a cd drawer is damaged it is time to replace the player. Most dual players the cd drive can simply be subbed out when broken. I have replaced the drive in one side of my NuMark Cd--88 |

Ack! I know I said the warrenty was expired... I was meaning the 90 day the company pays to have it shipped and all. I would say I have head this player for about 6 months and I know it would be a bunch of bull to try to send it back. I think they would stick me good. I've used this type of player for several years doing shows for somone else and there were times it happened to his players and someone knew how to fix it. I just have no idea what they did to do so and... well let's just say I can't (and wouldn't) call and ask them. (looooong story) I pray it is something to be fixed and I really think it is. Only finding out how to do so. *fingers crossed* Thank you for your response! |

I've fixed a similar problem on a 3-drawer JVC. The bad news is that the tabs that keep those doors in place are made of plastic, so if it is broken, you may have to improvise with some glue (this is one time duct tape may not be the cure-all!!). The good news is the tabs that keep those drawers in place are plastic, so if they are not broken they are simple to snap back into place. Since your warranty is expired anyway, I would take the previous advise and find someone who is ept with electronics to open the case and see if the drawer can be popped back in place. I'm sure you know a manly man who prides himself on his home stereo or surround sound...I would bet that same guy would be your best bet at fixing this thing on the cheap. |

The 'fix' for this was that I took it to someone who knew what he was doing and didn't try to fix it myself. A tech at one of the music stores actually. It wasn't as messed up as he thought it was, which I was hoping it wasn't really any big thing and could be fixed easily. This player has a lof of plastic parts and basically somewhere in the drawer mechanism it jammed and all he had to do was free it up. As I said previously, thank God he was able to do so because I budget-wise replacing it right now isn't possible. And he also cleaned it up sooo it should be like a new player now shouldn't it? Yeah right!! *rolls eyes* Again I thank you for your help. Much appreciated!! |
