How many people have ever had a wedding with karaoke?

Been to a wedding with karaoke?

DJ'd a wedding with karaoke?

Was the reception all Karaoke? or from a certain point?, How long was the reception?

What type of setup did the DJ use? TV and normal set up, One Large Projection screen, or 2 large projection screens?

Where they creative and posed photo's ect of Bride and Groom, did they have video capability?

I saw a setup like this and thought it would be ideal.

I don't do weddings anymore - as a rule.  I will pass generally it to another company I work with.  Too much hassle.  
I've done probably about 100 weddings over the years & with the exception of a handful, MOST of them turn into either a pure dj show because no one is singing except maybe a few here & there.  Or it turns into a "can you get my child up next" show with all the parents & grandparents wanting to showcase their little ones talents.
The ones that HAVE been strictly karaoke were rare.
As a matter of fact I was just at a wedding WITH karaoke (after I tried to talk them out of it - friends of mine), they insisted that they had at LEAST 40 people that would be singing from friends & family.  At the reception, the only ones that were singing were the bride & groom & their sisters - 6 people total.  No one else.  The people out on the smoking deck (which was full most of the night), I was listening to them all grumble that there was no dance music & the party actually ended within 2 hours after it started as people were leaving.
Set-up was basic, sound was at least tolerable - not impressive in any manner, 2 Soundtech 15" 2 way speakers on sticks, no subs, powered Behringer board, 1 player, 3 mics & an entire burned library.  No audience monitors, 1 13" screen for the singer, no lights.   The dj charged $500 for this set-up (was also a "friend", said they would normally get $1000 for that show) - very sad when you come to think of it.

Man, you've never been to a wedding of one of MY family members.  Karaoke is a must- and guitars, fiddles, banjos, etc.

My son is getting married August 6th, and we will be whoopin' & hollerin' most of the night.  Talk about running half the people off the mountain, that's what we'll be doing, . Of course, no KJ included- just me and my sis take turns being the sound peoples.

But, a wedding without karaoke at the reception- whut??

Same on my side here. Very common thing;even when a band is hired there will still be karaoke. The Band cant be up there all nite and they cant be expected to know all the songs that are requested. Karaoke till early morn is the norm. People bring their own discs and the singers que a mile long.

I do 2 or 3 weddings a year with some amount of karaoke.  Many more without.  For those that want it, I always go over with the B&G exactly how much is desired.  Sometimes they just have a select few guests they have pre-arranged to sing a song or two, other times it will be "open" to all - then we decide whether to let it run it's course, or reserve a block of time - say 10-15 minutes or so every hour; I think this type of combination can work well.  I also don't put out many books, if any.   For the set-up, I just bring my 13" TV for the stage/singer area - no 2nd unit for audience viewing.

I wouldn't say I prefer weddings with karaoke, but it can add an extra element of fun to the night.  A typical wedding for me is 6 hours - 1 hour cocktails, 1-1.5 hour dinner, and the rest as "dance time".  After allowing time for the wedding dance, daddy/daughter, bridal party, bouquet, garter..., there might be maybe 3 hours left.

I could do a few spritutual songs on the guitar.  But I haven't been to a wedding since I learned them.  I always like wedding/receptions with a string quartet and/or a harp or something like that.  Allows all the relatives to catch up with each other.  And much easier on the bride and groom that have to go around greeting everyone.

Lot's of people think that yet they still want to make a wedding reception some sort of wild fraternity party.  Animal House.  Must be the doings of the hard up grooms-men and bridesmaids :)

Ok, I'm getting married in October and I'll have karaoke at my reception.  It's open to anyone but mostly it's so I can sing a few songs for family and friends.  Since it's a small event anyway I don't expect it to get out of hand and I know that many of the people there won't be singing anyway.   But since my fiance and I are strange we're doing a BBQ for the reception!  I can't wait to see how a wedding dress and BBQ sauce mix!

We're viewing the reception as a way for family and friends to talk and catch up, not as a big party for those that want to come to the wedding.

Yeah- that's what I said- call it a string quartet if ya want....... guitar, fiddle, mandolin, & banjo..........  :dancin: ........ and lots of 2 steppin' too.

Bluegrass is good.  I saw Doc Watson a long time ago.  I used to go to this farm party and is was like Battle of the Bands for bluegrass.  I go to this place called Arnolds in Cincinnati that has a three piece band.  I guess I'm partial to classical music for weddings because it's my favorite.

All music is good except....no I like rap...except Reggae.  What's the point of Reggae?  I must be missing something.  I can't understand the lyrics and it sounds like people beating on garbage cans.

I'm sorry I put down Karaoke for weddings.  Not exactly the right place to say negative things about Karaoke.

I sang last night and had the best time since I stopped drinking.

My KJ, or should I say PP (he corrected me because he plays piano on stage), got really drunk.  So my PP was making me very nervous.  I had to get my CDG's back cause I thought my PP was going to fly them.

That is a REALLY old website, you can tell by the bad quality of those recordings. I was just learning to play those songs & they sound awful. I can't update the site, cause I no longer have a web page editor program.  So I'm embarassed now.  :oops:
