Hello Everyone
Im desperately trying to find a GOOD program to compile my songbooks with a comprehensive database
Ive previously used Airwer's songlist creator, however the numerous spelling mistakes within the songlist made me look illiterate!
The core of my system are Pioneer Laserdiscs + Sunflys and my new tracks are on Sunfly CDG, so i need a program that can provide good coverage across both formats
Does anyone have any good suggestions that could help me out here, ive searched the web and every site seems to sound the same! So some first hand experience would be appreciated
Many Thanks!

KJPro
Musicbook Deluxe
Or if you have your own excel listings, Chip's Speedbook is excellent. (he can even delete the entire database, and you can manually do it all! That's a good thing cause you control the errors!)
Fasttracks I've heard is good too.

I use fasttracks and I do like it... It still has the same ol' same ol' misspellings and problems with "A" and "the" at the beginning of the band/artist name etc.... But for the most part, it works very well... When playing with their search function, you can find disks without looking them up(but you have to be good at spelling the titles the way they were written in the database originally-after a while you get good at this....). If you have many similar items(like in a set), this is very quick...I have the Pioneer 50 Laserdisc set along with about 30 other laserdiscs, and I know it works for this and for the few sunfly's I have. You can edit the errors manually and can export to an excel file. I'm sorry I don't have any experience with any of the other databases, but like you, I've heard they all have similar problems with misspellings.... I can't comment on what is better/best, but this is what I've found with fasttracks. good luck!

I'll tell you who not to use...
Airwer's Song List Creator
That one sucks big time!! Not only are the features limited, but the customer service end of the company is very hostile. I was lured in to this program by the "free updates" and was taken for $100.
I switched to KJ Pro and have been extremely happy with it!!

I enter my own and keep my karaoke songbook on an Excel Spreadsheet... Guess I'm old fashioned.

Hi.
I use Excel for my list as well, but currently I copy the spreadsheet and paste into word to get a two column printout. Is there a way to do this from inside excel? For an example of my list here's a link... http://karaoke.seanphafer.com/KDownload.html
Thanks in advance...

I use fasttrack as well and I do like it. There are some goods and bads though.
Goods:
The program is fast and is very reliable. I love some of the features like CD label generation, song request slip generation, several easy to see printout formats, pretty comprehensive database including LDs and automatic search for disc info in database based on first song of the disc.
Bads:
You can not make changes to multiple songs. You can delete whole disc but you can not make changes to entire disc. It has to be done one song at a time. Certain fields can not be changed once it's entered, like disc number.
Overall, I really do like it and have saved me a lot of time entering 200 plus songs and manage them. I do recommend it.

I've used Fast Tracks for about 2 yrs now and it's the best songbook program I've seen or used. No matter which program you use there will always be typos and misspellings, some of that comes from operator error and some comes from mfg releases. Fast Tracks, however, has the option to edit the main database and the edits you manually type in stay there no matter how many times you update. When you add in all the diff options it has it truly makes it the best songbook making product on the market today

I have been using Music Book Delux for the past few months and it's been great. I haven't come across many mistakes. My song list is approaching 3500 songs. The program is easy to manage, easy to update, and has many options. I haven't tried KJPro, I'm guessing they are very simmular, but Music Book Delux works fine for me.

I Have been happy with Music Book Deluxe also. We have been using it for a year and I have a several databases setup. One for KJ, one for DJ so people can look at what we have & also some for some of our friends that KJ. In this area seems to be the prefered.

I can tell you that if you're running 20,000 songs+ then excel starts to get a little bogged down...
Try using access instead.... it handles the number of songs much, much better...
