Ive been hired to  DJ/KJ a "Beach Bash " this weekend outside on the boardwalk.
I want to make sure I have enough "beach type music" for both DJ & KJ.

Besides BEACH BOYS , JIMMY BUFFET and some REGGAIE(SP) what are some
songs or artists that would go great AT THE BEACH  that everyone can sing along with etc.  I imagine the age range of the people attenting would be the WHOLE RANGE from kids to seniors.   Appreciate any suggestions ..

Thanks !

 :D

Jan and Dean (if they are on karaoke?)

"Under the Boardwalk"

"Where the Boys are" -- makes me think of beach for some reason?

5. Beach Baby - First Class
6. Theme From A Summer Place - The Letterman
7. Hawaii Five O Theme - The Lettermen
8. Happy Together - The Turtles
9. Dancin' In The Moonlight - King Harvest
10. Wildflower - Skylark
11. Grazing In The Grass - The Friends Of Distinction
12. Seasons In The Sun - Terry Jacks
13. Build Me Up Buttercup - The Foundations
14. Put A Little Love In Your Heart - Jackie DeShannon
15. Escape (The Pina Colada Song) - Rupert Holmes
16. Best Of My Love - The Emotions
17. Brandy - Looking Glass
18. Theme From A Summer Place - Percy Faith

Don't forget the Grease soundtrack songs, especially one of the most played karaoke songs "Summer Nights".

Do a google search for Shag music.

this is a type of music also referred to as beach music. it's a predominently carolina based genre, but it was inspired by the jersey shore beach bands. want an idea of what the jersey beach sound is? listen to the eddie and the cruisers movie soundtrack....

saxaphones, shuffle beats, stuff you can grab your girl to and dance under the stars and count the lights on the boardwalk... ya' know? I'm from jersey too..... :)

asbury jukes, bruce, john cafferty, and some good shaggin' music....

-Steve

Wolly Bully by Sam the Sham & The Pharaohs [sic?]
Secret Agent Man - Johnny Rivers
For more modern music anything from Shaggy (Reggae)
Snow - Informer
Inner Circle - Bad Boys
I'm To Sexy - Right Said Fred (hey it works on a beach)
Soak Up The Sun - Cheryl Crow
Don't Steal My Sunshine - Len
Walking On Sunshine - Katrina & The Waves
Wipe Out - Surfaris (oh wait, there aren't any lyrics - LOL)
Anything by Don Ho
Rock Lobster - B-52's (can't NOT have rock lobster - baking potatoes, baking in the sun - dancing round the fire having fun - put on the noseguard - put on the lifeguard - pass the tanning butter)
Blue Hawaii - Elvis Presley

Check out this website  -- http://www.beachshag.com/

For transitional music/video you may want to secure a CD of One Crazy Summer - or any of the old 50's 60's "beach movies" with Annette or Elvis.
