Greetings,

I will be posting songs periodically to the Singer's Showcase for review and contructive criticism.  I am very new (although older in age) to this.

I took an interest in karaoke after my wife of 33 years and I took a Carribbean cruise in July of last year.  Every night before dinner, we would go to the lounge for a cocktail.  Karaoke was being done during that time.  I found it very interesting, and thought I would like to give it a try.

I never really did any singing before, in fact - my wife had never even heard me sing in Church.  I bought a system when we got home and practiced a few songs.  In August, our small town had a picnic with karaoke - I went.  My whole family thought I would chicken out, but I did it.  What choice did I have once the microphone was in my hand and I had been introduced?  Choke and walk off the stage? NO!  Be meek and mild so people couldn't hear me? NO!  I gave it my best.

People really enjoyed my songs - I Love This Bar by Toby Keith, and You're Sixteen by Ringo Starr.  Their encouragment made me continue.  Now, going out to sing karaoke is my mid life crisis passion.  Even my wife is participating now.  She says that my mid life crisis is better than most men get!  It is a great way for us to enjoy life now that it is "just the two of us" again.  We have 3 adult married children and 4 grandchildren ranging from age 6 months to 3 years.
