In another thread I flippantly and with humor inserted a link to Rta anaylizer software. Hadnt used it for a year or two so downloaded the latest version. Ive been having problems with the mic preamps in a dfx12 for awhile so I ran an analyisis comparing actual db gain and freq response with Mackies spec sheet. As always they passed or exceeded all tests. But I have been having problems with hum esp in the mic channels. With the input level and fader full... hummm........Now here is the tip of the week.. I mounted the M-Audio Delta 44 breakout box next to a power strip then had an alesis power supply and an aphex power supply right next to the breakout box DUH.... For someonme who has chased rf interference and power supply hum in all kinds of stuff for 40 years this was an amateur mistake in the first degree...Dont do that.... Also in the process I found a good tutorial on Delta 44 mods for reducing floor noise and hum Here |

Hey thanks! I too have the M-Audio Detla 44....I love it! I got lucky I guess, no hum or hiss even with every thing at unity.... I recently re-rack everything and I need now to go back and shorten several patch cables, but as always, I only use TRS and only rack up components that patch 3 pin XLR and/or have balanced connections. |
