Post subject:  A/V Receiver question regarding Watts

On most of the home A/V recievers, they have something like 6.1 (600 watts) in surround. I'm assumming this is 100 watts per channel.  if you put it in stereo only mode, ie for karakoe, does it mean you've got 300 watts per channel?  Just wondering.

No, most receivers when switched to stereo mode, simply shut the surround amps off.  100 watts per channel is what you yield.
