Even my 11 year old son knew he was doomed.

Didn't watch the whole show but caught his peformance of Nickelback's How You Remind Me.  I knew he was doomed, and it's a shame, because the American public simply isn't in the know.

How You Remind Me is one of those songs like Elton John's Your Song, or Glady's Knights Midnight Train.  Hey, these songs seem EASY on paper.  Then you got sing them and it's - whoa this stuff is hard.

How You Remind me is an incredibly hard song to sing.  I have listened and watched singers struggle through this, and good singers.

Constantine performance was not STELLAR, but it was good, damn good on a very hard song to do.  I had huge respect for the guy for even trying it.  Ya, part of the game is the song you pick.  I felt his performance was more than enough to advance, but America didn't - kind of stinks - that song is a lot harder to sing than America thinks, and Constantine's performance was worthy of continuing on.

All IMHO...

he shouldn't have won a karaoke contest with that performance, let alone American Idol... he got what his performance deserved- the door prize...

I'm with you Tig.  When you get to this stage of the game, you gotta turn out the performance of your life each and everytime, which means picking the right songs to show of your voice.  I liked him but he seemed quietly arrogant, he thought cos the girls liked him he could get away with anything. WRONG.  If you turn up singing a song thats pitchy all over the place............... don't let the door hit you in the a** on the way out

I didn't say Scott was better... don't know who scott is... haven't watched a single episode of AI this year because I have a  life... what I DID see of his performance (on news channels etc) was a BAD performance of a GREAT song...yeah it is a hard song to sing... this isn't about ALMOST doing a good job in his performance... I cringed hearing some of the flat and off key notes he made during that song... if someone was worse than THAT performance then that should be your hint to change the channel and hope that ridiculous show dies a quiet death... if constantine getting booted caused you stress then there is not much more I can say... but of course, being me, I probably will LOL- tig

I am actually harsh with this stuff because Im a huge fan of the show.  I listen to rock, pop, etc, but I have to say  I hated Constantine in his first audition.  It wasn't until the top 24 that he became something special.

So hear me out....

He is a rock singer in a rock band.  Chances are, before Idol he didn't care about pitch and all that.  And I feel that this competition did a lot for him.  And while some song choices were blah, the guy clearly knows what he's doing.  Sure, I can go into 50% of any garage band and hear better technical vocals, but they won't have the tone and performance that he has.

His song Tuesday wasn't awful, but it was nothing amazing.  And to be honest, I would have rather seen Bo go if it was between those two.  But in the end it was a bad choice.  Scott shouldn't be there, Con should...

Many issue was he sang the song like it was a heavy song.  Yeah it has loud guitar, but it is very laid back.  you know?
