Hi! All.

I have a Mixer : Audio 2000s AKJ7100 and BSR EQ-3000.  I also have a OEM mic from a LaserDics Karaoke machine.  They are bought by my oldest brother.  I used to have Yamaha RX-V990 and HK B6 bookself speakers and old floorstand Polk speakers.  I didn't enjoy karaoke much since everytime we sang at home.  There so much distortion on the speakers.

I have recently bought a new audio gear.  and wonder what else I should get to be Karaoke completed.

Speakers: RS550s/RSC200/RS550s (Onix Rocket)
A/V Receiver: Denon 3805
Amp : Adcom GFA-5503
Subwoofer: UFW-12 (Pre-Order)
Panamax Max 5410 Pro Power Conditioner
Mixer : Audio 2000s AKJ7100
BSR EQ-3000

don't have any mic yet.  and wonder my mixer and equalizer are any good or should I upgrade to another brand.

It is really not wise to add a mixer to a home stereo system.
Line level outputs will kill a standard stereo reciever.

I guess one could use record out on a mixer as a stereo input.

If your mixer does not have record out.

I would look into an inexpensive Behringer a 1204fx would be great. Will give you voacl effects also.$150
A great inexpensive Mic is a Sennheiser E815 they are around $40
You will need a mic cable, a stereo set of rca to 1/4" cables and a set of stereo rca cables.

Mic will be on one channel. Run Laser Disc Player into one of the Stereo channels on the mixer 9/10 or 11/12. and a set of rca's from record out to a aux input on your reciever.

I take no responsiblity for any outcome. In therory it all works. I would never sing though my home stereo system.

I've never had a problem with any receiver i've hooked a mixer to.  As long as the mixer isn't being cranked up (leave the mains set - about the same output level as a cd player), there shouldn't be any problem.

I agree with the not singing through the home stereo, live vocals will kill many & most home speakers after repeated use.

That's probably why my Yamaha RX-v990 wasn't functioning at one time.  We got it fixed.  The HK B6 bookshelf and a old Polk floorstand speaker would give me so much distortion that I don't want to use it for karaoke no more.

This is another reason I bought a new home speakers and new denon receiver to replace my old system.

Can I use these speaker for karaoke?  

I probably won't use the laserdisk player for karaoke.  I consider to play Karaoke's source through my DVD player.

would you guys recommend me which equipments(mixer, equalizer, speakers, receiver, amp, DVD player(Sony DVD DVP-NS575P)
) in my system are usable for Karaoke purpose?  If I have to, I will purchase a separated system for it.

As for the mic, I heard good thing about the Shure Beta 58/58A?

So, I now have to directions ahead and would like to ask your advice on each one:
1. go with my existent equipments and purchase/upgrade additional equiment.
2. Save money and purchase a completely separate Karaoke system.

forgive me, but here are some suggestions.

Mic:
Sennheiser E815
Shure SM58

Mixer:
Behringer Eurorack (I have a UB1622FX, but any of the ones with the effects will be fine)


AMP:
A professional amp (Peavey, Mackie, QSC, Gemini, etc....)

Speakers:
also professional speakers.  You can always go with powered speakers and that will eliminate the need for an AMP (gemini has powered speakers 400Watt for $299.00 ea)

Why professional stuff.... cause face it home audio gear is just not meant for karaoke, the levels and variations of live vocals just never seem to work well.

If you are going to hook up to a home stereo with a mixer like a behringer UB1622FX, hook it to the tape out.  The main out's of some equipment have too much voltage and can "overdrive" an input on your receiver.

That would make a very nice home system with room for expansion later.  I don't think you need to go as high on the mic though, a standard SM58 will work fine for home, for the matter, a PG58 would be fine for home use.
The DFX6 also has a built in effect processor as well so you could get away with not having the Lexicon at first - as you may find you won't need it.  It could always be added later if you decide you need it.  So knock $280 off that price.

Yeah !  I could save some money on the Processor.

On the DVD player.  I searched and didn't find a lot of deal on RSQ DVD-505G.  Look like this unit has been discontinued.  I did see the RSQ NEO-E500 NEO+G DVD model.  What is the main different between them?  Will this unit be good also?

I agree with what Lonman said but I would still recommend the Lexicon MPX110, I just can't imagine using anything else than this brand when it comes to reverb, to me, it's worth evey penny you spend!  I would also spend less on the mic like he said, the PG-58 is a great mic for live.  Question; This mixer has inserts connectors for addind a compressor gate in the future?  If not, I wouldn't recommend it, a Behringer for less would have them!

I would normally agree with the Lexicon, I was just trying to save him money to start with.  I figured since he was using the other 'karaoke' mixer - which usually have the cheesy echo/delay, that the built on the Mackie would be far superior to what he was even used to.
The DFX6 does have inserts on the 2 mic channels to be able to a compressor later.

Hi, I usually buy speaker in pair.  But, for karaoke at home should I purchase the Mackie SRM350 in pair or single ?

I prefer to buy in pairs - I like to run stereo at home, but if your budget is limited, start off with 1 & get the other when finances allow.
