Hello... I bought a dynamic microphone from a store and a adapter to plug it in to my computer for use...
I tried it on 2 diffrent microhpones i have so the problem is my sound...
Anyways I plug it into my computer and there is horrible and loud static!!!
I did some reading up and i still dont understand,
I called the store and they said to get a mixing program to
turn up the Internal sound and gain compression or something!
I dont know about this stuff,
but how can I get my computer's mic to sound crystal clear or closest to,
i just need it for vocals not for instruments... but I can not stand this static it will ruin my songs...
please help me out...
Denise!

In general terms a computer sound board has a line input which needs from .5 volts to 1.5 volts... Since a mic puts out much less than that a mic preamp is needed to amplify the audio to a line level. They cost from about $50 to a few thousand and I would recommend doing a search on Ebay, keywords "mic preamp"
Since this is your first step towards pc recording I must warn you with tongue in cheek and a grin .... Be prepared to spend alot more and open your mind to learn and experiment with many methods .. But have fun doin it .. Welcome aboard Hon and good luck....
