Hi Hanna, First, welcome to the forum.
And now lets address your proble of subbing song.
1. you need to have a karaoke backing track to sing to and record. To get that you you may need to buy it in dics form of search the net for some free midi file.
2. Copy the backing file to your recording software. KRITAL is free and here is the link http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/
Another one is Audacity also free and hereis the link
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
3. Get a mic and plug it the your sound card and sing to the track. You will need Lame encorder from here http://spaghetticode.org/lame/ to compress your file to mp3
Hope this help.

Welcome, Hanna! I believe we elder users here are chronicly a bit lost too so you'll fit right in LMAO
Of course, many of us have a lot of experience in recording songs so just go into the techie forum if you need detailed information on recording with the setup that you can manage for yourself.

If its your firewall that knock you off then turn it off. The site is safe from ant virus and addware and spyware.

I just check KRISTAL at http://www.kreatives.org/kristal/ will download
Now that is for recording and for encording your wav file to mp3 you need
LAME. Try geting it from this site http://www.sover.net/~wysiwygx/MMedia.html Scroll down untill you reach dBpowerAMP. Thats the encoder you need
I also just check the site and its working. so I hope you have no problem downloading those two softwares.
ed. I recheck the links and its still working
