How about a discussion to find our what are the HOTTEST requested songs.
Sure we all know the Top karaoke songs of ALL TIME ...But what are the new songs released that people are asking for and singing . Maybe we can create a list of songs that should be added to your library ?  So many time in tha past I purchased the newest discs each month only to have them start to see some use MONTHS later?

After a bit of a lull, I am noticing a surge in female country, Gretchen Wilson (all of them), Jo Dee Messina (My Give a Damns Busted, very recent), Julie Roberts (Breakdown Here), Martina McBride (God's Will).  For male, country as well - the duets are hot (anything with Toby, Willie, Alan, B&R, Kenny...).  The pop/rock/urban releases generally don't seem to take off in the venues I frequent.

Paradise by the Dashboard Lights

Daddys Hands

Interesting.  Marty's list is probably closest to what I hear on regular basis.  The other songs mentioned I hear maybe once in a blue moon.

As a singer I'm totally into Big & Rich and Gretchen Wilson.  Over the weekend I sang Kick My (@$%&#!) and When I think About Cheatin'  both awesome. This was in an old country bar and after I did Kick My (@$%&#!) somebody at the bar (stranger) said boy I love that old country stuff which tells me they are coming out with good stuff again (finally) ...
As a KJ I use This to try to keep up with whats hot esp with hiphop and pop... I dont listen to the radio and the first time I hear a song is at karaoke (even if I'm the one singin) In this area Ludacris, lil John and 2Pac are popular with the younger folk...

I haven't been to a show yet that someone hasn't done David Alan Coe's "You Don't
Even Call Me By My Name".  And now the big one for the ladies is "Redneck Woman" by Gretchen  :dancin:

Someone sings the DAC song at my show about 1 time every 3 months.  Redneck Woman is becoming a nightly standard though.

It's All about Location Location Location. I Went Cross Country on a motorcycle and after leaving NY for the most part the rest of the country was basicly in to country music and some R&B at least till i hit CA.... seems like the coasts are less country and more dance,pop,Rock... other. you still have your country folk but not like the middle states.

Also The crowd, the younger the singers the more they want stuff thats hip. Here on long Island new york we don't even have a country station on the radio... i still buy the PHN cause some people request the songs.

Here in Miami I get the following requests almost every time:

Aretha Franklin: Respect
The Weather Girls: It's Raining Men
Grease: Summer Nights
Celia Cruz: La Vida es un Carnaval

As you can imagine, these are mostly selections by women.

Men tend to sing more varied stuff, but I always get requests for:
Jimmy Buffett: Margaritaville
Billy Joel: Piano Man

Top 40 ? I have over 30,000 songs in my book now. I encurage singers to try different songs nightly by offering a jackpot.

I choose a song from the book, I add $5 to the pot every night when someone sings the song they win the jackpot. I gets people singing different songs. The pot has gone up to $300+ on numerious occasions.

I guess the most popular currents are:

Redneck Woman - Gretchen Wilson
Here for the Party - Gretchen Wilson
Save a Horse - Big and Rich
Cowboy - Kid Rock
Picture - KR & SC
Drift Away - Uncle Cracker
