After reading the post about the Echo Indigo DJ for laptops I'm now wondering what, if any hardware, would alow me to cue music in my headphone using winamp. I found a piece of hardware on a PCDJ site called Gigaport AG . Can anyone take my hand and explain how this would work. Sometimes this computer stuff makes my head spin :banghead:
After searching the site I realize that I asked this question before. Im not looking so much to cue karaoke more for just music. Some night I just can remember exactly waht a song sounds like before I play it. Nothing worse than driving dancers off the dance floor because what I thought was a great dance song turns out to be just a good song to listen too. I honestly dont care for the PCDJ red at all.

You can do this with almost any computer you can get two sound card into.  Set up two different copies of winamp to play with each copy to go to a different sound card.  Start both and drag and drop the song to the side you want to cue.  It would allow you to hear the song out of the other sound card but you'd still have to add it to the 'main' output to have it play.  You could even use a different application to cue the song to prevent confusion during a show if you like.

Right now I use 2 winamps at the same time to run my shows. I use the pluggin winamp has to fade from one to another. What your saying is besides this I could use a dual sound card and run another program just for cueing. Do you think all of these programs running would cause a crash. I guess I just have to try to find out. Does it matter what the specs are of the sound card. I just have the sound coming off the mother board right now so due I still need to buy a dual sound card or just a sound card with a single out for the cueing? I have a lot of questions and I truly appreciate your help. Thanks!!!

If you can run a second sound card to support the second sets of outputs it will work.  As an alternative you can also use the indigo card they mention in another thread in this forum that supports multiple outputs.

If you're using winamp for just music I'd consider using MP3 Tunes.  It works extremely well for music and support fade, BPM matching, and much more.  It DOESN'T support CD+G but will play MP3, Ogg and a couple other formats.  I've worked with it a little and it's pretty nice, espcially since it's available free of charge!

Hey Meister,

I have been using Airwer Easy MP3 Mix for 3 years now and will never give it up. I've never had the need for headphones but I would still have to use the dual sound card to do so. I love this program because it is a duel player in one application. You can time the mix and cue songs while another one is playing. It will auto fade from one song to the other or you can do it manually. It only cost me eish, er, um, around $40. ish bucks. Very cheap but very reliable. Here is a link:

Look into PCDJ's karaoke plug in will elimate the need of cueing, but you could also pick up pcdj fx makes for a fantastic program to dj from pc.
