What I mean by KJ Mixer is one that includes video along with audio? I realize that VocoPro makes one but...well...it's VocoPro. Does anyone make a mixer with video switching built in worth a flip, and if not is anyone using something for video switching other than the $30ish four channel switch box from your local yokel Radio Shack store. I've always thought that something on a foot switch for changing video channels would be helpful. So many buttons, knobs and sliders, and only two hands (and usually with some customer trying to talk to me at the worst possible time) |

Hi: I believe that SoundTech makes (or made) a pro style karaoke mixer with on board video switching. I have never personally seen or used it, but I would imagine that it would be much better (quality wise) than the Vocopro model. I don't know if anyone on this forum uses or has auditioned this unit. However, it would be interesting to see how this inexpensive board performs. I believe the model # is KJ3000V. The unit has reverb, key changer, etc and looks similar to the Vocopro models. Cheers |

I just don't see the problem with having a a/b/c/d switch. inexpensive, and completely stand alone... if there's a problem, you're not out the whole unit, just a $20 part! leave the mixer boards (audio) to the sound professionals, and the video to the Radio Shack guys! That's my motto! |

I agree with Matt and Lonman on this but if you REALLY just GOT to have it, check out the equipment used for VJ's. It's not cheap, but I'm seeing a little more gear being offered of late, but rather than just switching it has transition selections (sweeps, blanking, etc). To be honest, I prefer having them being switched seperately. I use a pair of switch boxes and the output from one drives my local 5" lcd and the other goes to the singer/house video system. For under $50 I have a lot of flexibility in my video being displayed. I can even tap the buttons on the front and have it blank out if need be. |

I had a VocoPro KJ 6000, I think it was called... As soon as I took it out of the box it reeked of cheapness. I used it once... Sold it and bought a Mackie audio mixer and a Radio Shack video switch, which I labeled left and right... it works just fine! |
