Peavey pv-2600 vs Crown 3000

Post subject:  Peavey pv-2600 vs Crown 3000
Just curiosity, I have been using a Peavey 2600, and a pv-1500 for like 4 years now. No problems, and both in mint condition. However, I am starting to build a second rack rig. for my music studio, and have been considering using crown amps, or really any good brand. My personal experience is with peavey. Is crown worth the price difference, and why.

I will have 2 amps in the system, one for highs, and one for subs. I will be using a Kosmos for a enhancer, and to split off the subs, I will also be running my recording studio, Keyboard, guitars, bass and vocals as well as karaoke through this.

Let's hear your opinions..........

Crowns are generally built better than many other lines, but they also have their lines to be competetive as well.  The Macro & K Series lines (which is totally overkill for karaoke) are probably the best amps built.  These suckers are stable down to 1 ohm loads & the watts they push are pretty much the cleanest in the industry & whatt they are rated are generally VERY conservative - they can push much harder provided you don't blow a circuit breaker in the club first.  Now to get to realistic amp for general purpose.  The Crown XS series is a great amp.  The XLS series is junk.  Take a look at the QSC PLX series.  Also look at Carvin.com & the DCM series.  GREAT bang for the buck & wonderful customer service.  Cheaper amps generally aren't as stable or are noisier/will distort quicker.  There was a rule (at one time) the heavier the amp, the better it is - this was pretty much depending on the power supply.  It isn't so true anymore.  The QSC PLX series are awesome in the respect that they run VERY clean throughout the frequency spectrum, push what they are rated efficiently & only weigh 21 pounds throughout the entire line!

The crown CE-2000 is the one they have here at a decent price. (in line with the peavey) know anything about this one

I like that amp as well, pushes a little more power than the XS500 at 4 & 2 ohms as well as bridged, however it's an older line that's been around, takes up 3 rack spaces as opposed to the 2 rack spaces on the XS series, weighs 40 pounds over 28 pounds & is a little more spendy but it is a bit cleaner (not alot) & the bass response will be a little more efficient.  The XS series is very comparible the Peavey CS line.
The Carvin DCM2000 would be pretty comparible the CE2000 in all respects.  It's also about 150 bucks cheaper.  Since they don't go through dealers & sell direct to the consumer, they can be a little cheaper without the sacrifice.  I've been using these amps (3 in a tri-amp config) now 7 nights for the past 3 years without so much as a crackle, replaced my Peavey CS series line - had 2 CS1000 & CS800, wouldn't go back.  Working on replcing my 2nd system with these as well.
