OK, this must be a joke, right??
I've actually been watching most of this season's series, although I never paid all that much attention to it in the past (maybe the beginning to see all the humorous singers, and the end to see who wins) but....
WHAT IS WRONG WITH THE TOP 12???
Particularly this evening's episode (Tuesday, March 15th)... I'm sorry, but it's only half way through the show and I've already changed the channel. So far, 6 have sang (60's music theme) and none of them have managed to impress the judges. No big surprise, but ordinarily I am at least SOMEWHAT impressed. Not tonight! I never considered 60's music to be that vocally challenging. Well, not most of it anyway. Sure, there's the female greats like Aretha, Tina Turner, Patti LaBelle, and Gladys Knight whose music I wouldn't even attempt to sing. And the guys... well, there's multitudes of their talent from the 60's as well. But not so vocally challenging that it couldn't be duplicated once more.
Well, like a glutton for punishment, I switched back to the show. Nadia Turner has been the only one thus far to impress the judges, and me. And even at that, I would rate her performance as average. Is it the big band, the shiny stage, the bigger audience causing these people to go way off pitch? Is it the flashing lights distracting them? I'm not sure really what's going on here... but I am confused. I've heard better performances from people on the showcase lately!
Bah, I'm just rambling anyway.... I just don't get it! :headscratch:

To ask relatively inexperienced singers to come onto an unfamiliar stage with inadequate stage monitors is ludacris. They are also singing dry with no or little efx applied to the vocals and are singing unfamiliar music. To compensate they are tense and over trying to compete. None know how to work the mic they all keep it at a fixed distance and try to sound professional without their full scale. Then the three idiots with their assinine comments is an insult to raw talent and does nothing for the music industry or fostering or improving talent.
When they compare a mediocre performance to karaoke they have it backwards for that is one of the most unprofessional screwups I've seen in a long time It reminds me of the sixties when one had to have raw talent to sound halfway decent. It is possible but takes several songs on a weird stage to adapt....All in all it is a joke...
Edit... If you were looking for painting talent would you ask them to paint with a corn cob?

I was told that they had to pick songs from the 60's. I think Bo Bice will make it to the finals.

Yes, Snowman, that is what I said: 60's Theme. Bo Bice was one of my first picks. In the beginning...

The only problem with Bo's performance last night was it was not long enough! If I had to pick a fav last night it would be him! The guy above ^ Scott, gave a nice vocal performance but he lacks in stage presence. If I had to pick the one leaving tonight it would be Mikalah. Worst performance of the evening I thought.

I agree completely, Sheree. Bo has been my favorite so far... whether I think he is that great or not, I'd still like to see him win sheerly for the fact that as of yet, we've not had a "rocker" idol. Would be an interesting addition to the other 3.
Scott's vocals are usually not that bad, but I don't enjoy watching him on stage. Mikalah looks good (if you like Barbie's brunette friend Midge) but I really don't care for her singing all that much. Perhaps in a few years when her voice has fully matured she'll be much better.

Darnit!!! "Midge" is still in the running. Although I was glad to see Lindsey go. I didn't think she should have been in the Top 12 anyway.
