Karaoke Forums

This one I've been wondering about for a while as it seems not everyone here is strictly "karaoke".

I mostly use CD+G's or tapes I bought (I used to have a caseete-only karaoke machine so I have lots of tapes! As well as a few hundred CD+G's) but I have downloaded a few off the net from file-sharing programs (ahem) and also I have some .kar files and MIDI's (I used those for the Christmas songs because I couldn't find a good CD+G for the songs I wanted).

Interested in seeing what other people say!

To answer the poll, I charge tracks to my credit card til I figger out those sharing things.

sorry tigger! I have the attention span of a mod and simply get distracted by sparkly and shiney things... when I get my server organized again you can download your tracks I have directly from your internet browser- no dealing with email uploading and downloading BS... ask my other karaoke wenches and they will tell ya how easy it is lol... talk to you soon- tig

Anyone want to send me a list of their tracks? I would be happy to share back, too.

One reason to buy the disks rather than download regular MP3's is that if you have a karaoke machine, it puts the words on the screen.  Also some of them have "examples" so if you are not too sure of the song, you can sing along with the examples first (although personally what i normally do is find the original song somewhere online first and learn it with that because the sample versions are usually crap!).   Like I said, I built my collection with lots of karaoke tapes first so those were pretty cheap.  They don't put the words on the screen, though, only give you a lyrics sheet.  If you just buy one disk every couple of months, it's not too expensive, plus they have lots of sales at karaoke.com  

I always get a few for Christmas, too. I put them on my Christmas list and tell my family that's the best thing they can get me!  And DVD's...

Not that I'm against downloading at all, it's just that with the bought ones I can get exactly the song I want.

Suzanne... some of the downloadable tracks have a .cdg file with them (meaning you have to download 2 separate files, .mp3 & .cdg)  Together, with the right software that reads the .cdg file, both files work just like your GD+G discs.  Kinda neat if you like on-screen lyrics.  :yes:

Hey Crystal!! Still so sweet AND so beautiful!!! And slanoue so your pimpless like me huh.....yah whattup wid DAT???? We're cute!

Crystal this school semester has been so freakin stressful and hard but it's easing up which is why I can finally post again. AND we got our new puter set up so I gots everything now! (new soundcard, new Christmas mic, new songs I ordered) I'm gonna record extremely soon. This weekend was spent positively going nuts with some wild hair I got thinking I'd make a cat scratching post myself instead of paying $180 at the store...oh my God, such a pain! It's done, but what a pain. They better use the dern thing.

And I finally put a new pic up but I don't see it, oh well. I swear 120 pixels is so small all I could include was barely like an eyeball.
