Yes, everyone has talked this to death, but I recently found out that karaoke monthly offers tracks in MP3+g format. I was just wondering if anyone had any exposure as to what the quality of the tracks were before I put in an order. Tricersaoft offers pretty much the entire collection of over 1500 tracks on 2 DVD's as mp3+cdg for $600. At under 50 cents a track if they're decent it might be worthwhile. Since they're purchased as MP3's they're legal to use on a computer setup (alway a plus!). Keep in mind this is the only brand I'm curious about... all the other brands have been talked to death in threads easily viewable in a quick search of the site here. |

That's Top Hits Monthly, and I've been getting them for about four months now. I like them alot... and their six packs in cdg format are excellent... they throw in their four monthly disc lines, and then they have two other discs that are tossed in there as well.. they do a superb job of filling in the holes in most people's collections. I love the Platinum Artists line, and the flashback, duets, decades... WELL worth the investment! $50 isn't so much to ask for the four monthlies, and two other discs! All you have to do with these is either play them off their cd, or copy them to your harddrive! |

Karaokemonthly has supplied me with the monthly THM 6 pack for 2 or 3 years (Now sometimes the mp3+g route) The ones that I have compared with Soundchoice I prefer THM... Also their Mp3g rip is at 256 not 128.... I havnt downloaded cavs for awhile but I think their rip rate is higher now too.. No complaints here.... |

When I asked Karaoke Monthly about the rip rate I was told the older songs were 128kbps and the newer ones are 192kbps - both at CBR. Given the entire catalog of over 1500 songs is only $600 it seems like a pretty good deal. I'm about to order the SC bricks but might opt for this collection instead. I'll still get the bricks, but perhaps in about a month if these are of good quality. |

I would never buy an mp3+g compressed with a commercial encoder, with a good Lame encoder or wma+g, yes, I would go for it! But that's just me, very sensitive ears! |

The Bricks focus more on classic rock, metal & country. Nothing really newer than early 90's (if that). |

I saw the differences in the tracks between the two and will eventually buy both of them. I was just stating that I might put off buying the bricks for a short time in lieu of adding these first. I'm still undecided between the two, but I'm negotiating my summer gig right now and want to get that done before I order anything else. The biggest problem I'm having right now is finding a rack that has 12U of space on top for that Mackie Onyx 1620 and another 8-12U of space underneath for my players, etc. I'm trying to avoid getting two cabinets and wire everything up to the mixer at every show. I'd prefer to leave it all hooked up except the power/speaker cables and be able to drop the box, hook up power/speakers and rock. If I don't find something soon I might have to build something - but the problem is that it won't be light... |
