MTU's website has a forum you will find all your answers.

Hire a lawyer too while you are at it.......Nah, just joking(I hope). LMAO

Sounds like you are well on your way to a decent set up. EV makes really great sounding cabs and the mixer seems like a good match/choice.

The guys over at MTU forums can be very helpful as far as using their software, and one or two of them can suggest the best external sound card, but first make sure yours ain't good enuff....It just might surprize you.

Watch for ground loops that cause hum, and poor quality cable patches that cause hiss....Many times laptop users will discover that they pick up an annoying 60Hz hum only when the laptop is plugged in to 110VAC, but not when operating off the battery. They usually fix the hum by clipping the ground prong at the laptop power cord.(please you guys don't bother to scream how that might be unsafe. I'm sure all of us have read the warnings already that come with everything electrical now-a-days).

another thing that helps is the usb out of the laptop or computer... Tig ran into many hum probs with his computer setup until we used the "Soundblaster mp3+" audigy device. ($40 on the net)

search the forum here... there are OTHER options than just mtu. Dr. D. is passionate about that, and that's terrific, but there's also Sax & Dotty's, PCKJ, and other hosting systems... as well, there are NON-Hosting systems that are merely computers that are players only.

I would suggest against cutting the ground off of the power. Ebtech makes a hum eliminator that will take care of all the audio problems.

As far as the MTU software. I like a program that works as advertised, and it does. In over a year using it I have had no problems during a show. I dont have to load 5 different drivers to get something to work. I just click and go.

Also, since you already have it make note, You can run more than 1 instance of it at a time. I usually open up my songlist in one window, and the customers in another. So I don't have to look up my songs. and when you start importing your cdg's if you are running more than 1 cd drive, you can open up 2 windows, and import 2 disks at a time, without slowing it down.

so much for that........
