I finally decided, and just bought the RSQ -MV333.  I bought a rack shelf to rack mount it in a case, but the unit doesn't fit, unless i cut some trim off (which would void my warranty), any suggestion on how to rack mount this thing?

I've heard you can remove the feet, and put a screw into the feet... try the rack either right-side up or upside-down...

You can either move it back or forward on the shelf to make it fit.  Just behind the racks is usually the best option to get it rack mounted and isn't that bad if you put it near the top of the rack.

I haven't checked, but the end pieces appear to be attached to the main faceplate and will come off (pry at them gently w/ a thumbnail and you'll notice they move slightly).  Chances are if you open up the unit you can remove the two side pieces (from the gold trim outward) quite easily, but alas, still voiding your warranty.

I've mounted several of thr RSQ/JVC players.

If you mount them in the standard Raxess shelf you may find holes that don't line up with your player, Be very careful about the depth of the original screws. Screwing screws too deep will crack a circuit board inside the player.

Woohoo!  Here's a little trick I found out tonight when I was looking at my player.  The two side pieces (from the gold trim out) come right off without having to take the player apart.  Just pull them towards you and they pop off without having to take anything apart.  They're not easy to come off so you'll have to apply quite a bit of pressure.  I started at one end (top or bottom) and once it shifted I moved to the other end.  Once the trim is off it's the same width as other standard 19" components.  If you have any problems doing this let me know.  And no, don't use a screwdrive to pry them off, you'll scratch up and possibly damage the case.
