Hello. I'm John. I used to be a KJ, but can't stand bars
(or the owners
, thereof). I sold off all my disks, but have about 40k songs in mp3+g format on my PC. I wish I had a set-up like this when I was doing gigs
. Now, it's illegal for me to run a show with the files I have, unless I have the original disks, but I'm not interested in doing shows anymore, anyway
. Now, I set up KJs with copies of their CD+Gs, rip their CD+Gs to mp3+g and set up all digital computer karaoke systems with rips of their disks. I can even make perfect copies of imperfect disks (scratched or, like SoundChoice, with holes in the metal). You're allowed to use copies and back-ups, so long as you own the original media. If I'd have known that when I was doing gigs, I could have saved a few disks from being damaged and lost
. I have the ultimate karaoke system, now, and just use it for home use. If I want, though, I can burn a disk to take with me for contests
with any song ever made on karaoke. I love to sing
and do it nearly every day, in my living room. Everything from The Four Seasons to White Zombie. My tastes are very eclectic and I love being able to practice so many different songs at my leisure.
