. Do you want a Karaoke programe for playing karaoke song or do you want a program to record your singing; they are not the same thing. |

Sounds like you want a recording program... how much are you willing to spend? I have Cool Edit Pro which is now known as Adobe Audition.... it's a very good program. |

Audacity is free, open source software for recording and editing sounds. It is available for Mac OS X, Microsoft Windows, GNU/Linux, and other operating systems. Try it, you'll enjoy it for recording, goto http://audacity.sourceforge.net/download/windows |

I too am a newbie, and am feeling a bit out of place about all this recording business. I have downloaded both KRISTAL and Audacity, and they both look so confusing I don't have the slightest idea where to begin. Do I need to connect my mic to my computer or how does all that work???? Help would be appreciated and would ease this whole "feeling old" phase I'm in this month, from all the new, high-tech stuff I know nothing about. I have an ACER laptop computer running on Windows XP. I know I have the capability to burn both CDs as well as DVDs. I also have the software from my CAVS 1099 system for capturing and converting files. HELP!!!! I promise I catch on quick!!!! :yum: |

Hi Hot, A 2 questions first. Does your lap top have a 1/8 in mic in at the back or side? If it does not have then you cant connect the mic directly to your lap top. Must will need a usb sound card. But dont worry you can still sing thru the built in mic. Which is the next question; does your lap top have the built in mic? For the time being just play around the setting of your recording software and try to know what those button are for. KRISTAL have a very short and good Help fuction. Use it. Then try to load it a music track Any song and not just karaoke trak will do for now) and play around with it . Note that Kristal does not like mp3 file you need wav file . Pm me if you need more help. me jian |

there's a thread here in the frequently asked questions on using Audacity (cool edit pro2) for recording... goes into FINE detail! I used it myself when I experimented with it. worked like a charm! |

except I was wrong on AUDACITY... it's NOT the aforementioned Cool Edit Pro 2... it's Adobe Auction that's the former CEP! |
