 Post subject: need help with cool edit

i used cooledit to record my song as multitrack, vocal and music are separated. now how do i  combine those 2 tracks so vocal and music could be mixed together. all inputs would be appreciated. thankzzz

OK, you have 2 choices... you can either

1) Click EDIT > select MIXDOWN TO FILE (which will do exactly as it say, mix the tracs together as a file and then display that one file)

or, you can

2) Click EDIT > select MIXDOWN TO EMPTY TRACK (BOUNCE) (which will mix the files together and display them in the next empty track in the multitrack)

The easiest is #1, mixdown to file, cos then all you have to do is click FILE > SAVE AS to save your finished file.

thank you very much for you input, Atomic. The thing is even i'd done the mixdown to the new empty track; i still have vocal on the rite and music on the left . how can i mix them together?

Sounds like the music was panned to the left and the vocals to the left (or vice versa) when you recorded.  Change each of the seperate tracks you have now to mono and mix them down.  I don't know the exact items to click as I use Audigy when I record.  Turning each of the tracks mono before mixdown will loose the stereo seperation but for the showcase it's not that big a deal given the wide variety of listening environments and the impact the low bitrates have on the final song.

Theres an option under the EDIT menu to mixdown to mono... try that :)

I got it; i clicked on efftedt-> amplify-> and either channel mixer or Pan/Expend. Both channels mixed down to one mono channel. Thanks for all inputs
