I recently converted all my CDG's to SCDG format. I burned all the DVD's at 4X using quality Memorex and Sony DVD's. I am having issues with random intermittent lockups. you can play the CDs for hours no issues then all of a sudden a song will totally lockup. It is not specific to what disc, song, or track it is on either.

ANY SUGGESTIONS ?   Should I just go back to the trusted CDG's and be done with SCDG ?????

BTW: CAVS just discontinued the 202G II's and have not relased any info about a new player. I hope they will not make the public use those garbage 103's. Acually ALL CAVS players are garbage. The 202's are nothing more then SUNGALE built player with the CAVS firmware and SCDG decoder. They are total garbage, $200 piece of garbage acually. :-)

BTW:  ANY DAYTON OR COLUMBUS OHIO KJ's OUT THERE ?? EMAIL ME AT:  alnico@woh.rr.com

Sorry To Hear about you CAVS problem and i know what its like to get support from them.... in the long run it may be better for you to switch to a PC player and get away from Disc completly. It sucks that you went through the trouble converting once but for over all stability PC is the wat to move to. I run 79,000 karaoke titles from one hard drive and they all are accessed through the PC. Fast Easy and no mess. Also you can switch your player programs.... not stuck with CAVS as the only option. Alot to think about i know.

The purchase of my CAVS unit last year (1099) from CheapKaraoke.com (great help) came with both advise as well as a seperate CD player.   The tech guy that helped me set up initially, told me that with the CAVS units, NEVER play discs in them, because they can (and will) jam up.  He had no explanation as to why the player would come with a 3-disc tray if it wasn't made to play discs.

I get a few disappointed singers when they find out I can't play their personal discs unless they want them played in the CD player with no lyrics.  But with over 10,000 songs, and easy access to new songs, if I don't have their song, I can get it for them.

I would buy a RSQ222 player... they're pretty cheap... for your additional cdg customers...

and get away from the CAVS as fast as you can. Song manufacturers have been either dropping their support for this format, or never gave it in the first place.

If you want an easy format to use, change your cdgs to COMPUTERIZED mp3gs... I do that, with a cdg player on the side for customer discs!
