Honestly I don't like either. Shure's are loaded with midrange. The best Karaoke mic I have found are the Samson Q7's. They by far outshine the Shure Beta 58's in sound quality and feedback control. I bought 6 Q7's and sold my Beta 58's the same day. You can get them on Ebay for about $70.

To answer you question ,  I've had both and still use the Senn E815S.
I purchased a 3 pack for about $99.  I think the going price is now $110 while the single Shure PG58 is about $60?

As far as these 2 models go I would say the Sennheiser is not only a better
sounding mic its also a better VALUE. I used the Senn for awhile and they sound
good and have held up well even after a frew drops here and there.

Are there better mics out there YEAH!....But thats not the question

I own a PG58 and I can say it's a great mic for live performance ONLY and it's also very smooth, not loaded with mid-range like alnico is saying

Now, let's keep in mind tha a mic is always personal, one could be good for your voice but not good for me, The Shure's are always smooth and when combine to my smooth voice (what people say) it makes people fall a sleep :  It's the reason I use an Audio-Technica for more clarity.  Up to you to decide what's best for your voice, for live Karaoke, Shure is an excellent choice in my opinion!

I have a 58 Beta, and to be honest, I can't understand what alnico means either...

Its not loaded with midrange at all, I find it very clear and excellent for live performance...

But thats just my preference... everyone's entitled to their own opinion..... :)

I have a number of crappy mics that came with various players I have but for my shows I currently use Fender P-51's and Shure PG-58's.  I prefer the sound of the P-51's but they require more gain than the PG-58's.

I'll be upgrading to wireless mics soon... I've talked extensively with someone about the (yea, I know I'll hear Lonman say 'not Voco.... er, nevermind) VocoPro UHF 3800 and it seems to hold up pretty well and has a good sound.

I personally use a wireless SM58 for my vocals but I find they are not good for everyone.  I use wireless audiotechnica mics for the crowd, I find they have a more flexible sound and are easier to eq to many different vocal types.

im new to wireless mics....

im looking at the two wireless mics Yamaha and Shure LX88-11 systems located on this page :  not sure which one to get, both same price. any advice?

http://www.unifykaraoke.com/english/microphone.htm

go past the first 6 individual mics on the page, then the two im talking about is the last 2 in the first row of wireless mics.

heard the name SHURE on tv a few times, but never the yamahas, so not sure which is creme of the crop when it comes to these two options.

ps - does anyone know anything about this unifykaraoke.com company? i am considering buying from them, because they have a lot of asian music, i can't find anywhere else.. id love it if i could find korean and chinese vcd karaoke. if anyone knows id be wililng to pay or trade libraries.

Don't know about the mics you're refering to so much, but Shure is a long time name in the mic market and are known to make an excellent product.  Sennheiser, Audio Technica and a few other companies are know to make excellent dynamic mics as well.  On a side note, trading libraries is generally illegal.  I won't assume what country you're in as the laws vary from country to country.

On a side note, have you tried checking with any of the sponsors here about the asian karaoke offerings?  We have a large Japanese tourist group that comes through here and I was looking for Japanese songs to add to my library.  After much searching I was able to find a decent selection of asian karaoke from both Ace Karaoke and DTS Karaoke.  There is a small shop here in Anchorage that offers Filipino and some Korean discs so I can pick them up locally if I need to.  If you can't find anything from either of these two companies I'll be more than happy to post the name of the store here in Alaska for you.

thanks for the offer. i am interested in what shop you speak of in Alaska. what is the name. and what kind of korean karaoke are you able to find. is it thousands of songs, or are they discs with 14 songs on it from an album.  what are the costs?

kind regards
