I'm going out to a karaoke finals contest tonight and all of my "offline" friends have backed out at the last minute again... (xcept for faithful hubby of course)

So... I'm takin all yous with me for my cheering crowd.... :wink:

It's going to be smokey, and we'll be out late because there will be 12 of us singing 2 songs each. I'm starting to feel comfortable singing around you guys and this contest is in another town so if you don't mind I'm just going to pretend it's all of you sitting in the audience OK?

Who has to potty before we go? We have to drive a little ways! There's no place to stop in between other than the side of the road so get your stuff done now before we go!

Remember when I did "Momma Don't Dance" and I said mine does, and sometimes she dances BY HERSELF in public? Well... I can't convince her not to come tonight so she'll be there too and guess what she'll probably be doing :oops: yep, dancing by herself in public again.

And girls... don't argue about who's sitting shotgun! Don't make me pull this car over! :wink:

THanks a bunch you guys for always cheering me on. It sure has helped me gain confidence lately! I love ya's!!!

ack! we nearly there, I can hardly move crampted up in the trunk, yuk! whats that i just put my hand in ?, dang! so dam dark in here, all i can hear is crackiling chitter chatter, this is so not fair, hey easy on the bumps, ouch! :P

You kids! :lol: I'm so glad that everyone made it! Even if you were crushed on the way ~ sorry for those of you squished into the trunk - LOL! MellyMUN! Whoo hoo! Great to see ya came along for the ride too! :wink:

Yep CC, I wondered if you'd have something to say about the "Shotgun" position LOL!

Wellllll..... (insert drum roll here)......

By 820pm it was standing room only ~ amazing!

I got up there and sang my lil heart out.

It was the very first time that I did not shake and have a nervous breakdown after leaving the stage area.

I got tremendous crowd response, including 3 of the 5 judges that were clapping and dancing in their seats right from the first few notes of my first song. (that's VERY unusual for people in that town unless you brought peeps with you those are usually the only ones to respond to you)

It was one of the best run contests I've ever seen ~ there were still some things that weren't quite "fair" but it was much better than I'd seen at a different contest in that town.

I won 2nd place!

I'm happy with 2nd - it was $100 - I had a lot of fun and there were really good singers this time so I'm sure it was tough.

The girl that won.. well.. that's kind of a deal. She's a local high school girl that basically screams into the mic. When I got to the place to sign up, we had to draw #'s for our order to sing our first song (then they redrew for the 2nd round - I liked that much much better). Her name was already at the bottom of the list I saw before they even drew any #'s for order. In fact we had to take a 15 minute break at the end of the 1st round because she hadn't gotten there yet. That was a little not fair I thought. The rest of us had made sure we were available for the contest and were there on time. But whatever.. I drew 3rd from the last in the order so I was happy.

We ended up singing the same song on the 2nd round and she sang hers first ~ one of the judges had drawn my spot for me since I hadn't heard them call us up (mic was really bad for talkin - couldn't understand cuz it was jacked up in volume so far) ~ That judge drew me 12th (2nd from last - again double WHOOHOO!). Since she had most of the high school there plus her huge family she had a ton of people that came up to scream at her while she screamed Here for the Party. I get up to sing the same song and no one up at stage screamin - I got thunderous applause from the crowd, but just didn't feel the same. I discretely tried to switch songs but they wouldn't let me so I dealt with it and made a joke about how that girl and I have similar tastes in music but that I had come to Party too blah blah blah.

Anyway... I appreciate all of your encourage because MAN did it help! A couple of the singers told me they'd never seen me more confident and sounding like I did. I have you all to thank for that! Luv ya all! :wink:

damn i wish I had the guts to do the contest thing.... i start to sweat, knees start to buckle..... UHGH! i turn into a total mess!!! GOOD FOR YOU, GIRL!!
