Post subject:  LOOKING FOR A NEW MIXER
WHAT IS CONSIDERED TO BE THE BEST MIXER FOR KARAOKE.iM LOOKING FO A NON POWERED WITH BUILT IN EFFECTS UNIT.

I'm not sure if there is a best mixer as alot of it is personal preferance.
I am using a Behringer UB1222FX it has 4 mic inputs and 4 stereo inputs as well as 99 digital effects, the effects aren't bad and it also has a feedback detector in the 7 band Equalizer, it can be asigned for the mains or monitor. I would preffer a few more mic pre-amps for at least 6 mics but 4 isn't bad. It is fairly quiet and inexpensive.
You can get better mixers, but the cost will go up conciderably.
Just my opinion. :wink:

There is no best, just what suits your needs. I personally can't stand Behringer or ANY mixer that says it was "specifically designed for karaoke" either. Behringers, i've have had too many die & personally know several others with the same stories or worse.
Mackie is my overall choice. The CFX series for club work or the DFX for home/club use.
You don't really state what you are using it for.

I've only been using mine for 4 1/2 months so I can't say anything about how long it may hold up. I did have one of the stereo channels go bad in less than a month.
I will agree with Lonman in getting some sort of Pro Series mixer made for live sound reinforcement, the Mackie is a good unit, have never heard anything bad about it, they are known for thier quiet circuitry.

Lonman you seemed to have worked with a lot of differant Sound equipment, tell me what do you think about the AKG WMS400 UHF Headset Wireless Microphone System with C444L Mic, I just ordered one for my wife to use at Karaoke for announcing, she dosen't sing as of yet, but have you heard the C444L headset used for vocals and if you have what do you think of the sound?

One of my hosts bought that same set-up. Right off the bat he needed a compressor in which he bought the Alesis Micro series compressor which helped out quite a bit - as there is no mic control with a headset. It (like almost any headset mic) needs quite a bit of eq'ing. He does use for singing as well & once eq'd, sounds almost as good as an SM58.
