I was wondering if there are places one can go for generating song collection list online. I have seen sample ones which you download that cost a fortune.

I don't want to put a bunch of software on my computer just so I can print a list. And then what if I'm somewhere else and need the list.

Just Curious

SPEEDBOOK... if you have a database already set up, it's perfect. $40.00, it's what I use, and the pdf files are on my website.

Other than that, no, nothing I've seen that doesn't cost.

You can't get something for nothing.

There's always the good ol' Microsoft Excel spreadsheet, which requires typing in everything... but it's portable if you have a PDA, handheld, laptop, etc.

I've only used Excel and Access for lists, and if you already have these programs on your computer, then it's free. Time consuming, yes, but still free. 8)

Like Matt (Knightshow) I also use speedbook. I like the output format, but the database for the program is WAY out of date, and the tech support is less than stellar.

You've been warned.

I use Excel. Some initial work setting it up - I did copy/paste some of my disc lists from websites and then used a few functions to clean it up (getting last name first, marking duplicates, assigning disc numbers, etc.). From a maintenance standpoint now, it's very simple and quick. If you want to do more involved printing, the best bet is to pull in the data to Access, Crystal Reports or some other program that's more versatile for that. Otherwise, there are some specialty karaoke book software programs that you may want to check out.

I'm just curious, if we created an online database, if we could get it and keep it uptodate. I've done some looking and feel we could have a fairly extensive DB in no time. But the one thing that needs to be updated are the Disc Names. I haven't seen too much available with that yet. But then I'm only beginning at this and am not familiar with all the sites yet.

What I invision would be a list of discs...select the discs....and generate lists for people to print from online. We could set it up so people could login/have profiles and save the discs they have in DB as well. At least if anything would happen to your local machine .... not all would be lost.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Reports would inlcude:
List by Song Name
List by Artist
List by Disc....for those parties at home when you want to know what comes next without the changing of the disc.

I invision an initial extensive db with allowing client submissions(pending approval)....after all...everyone wnats their list to be theirs.

Thanks
Calvin

MS Word works well, too, with all the new features included in it.

I use Word to do my books. I made the template for the book, and I just keep adding to it, and then I copy/paste what I added and print it out. It's a bit time consuming, but it works.
